How can you tell when your clutch...is about to let go?

If I take it until it breaks, what additional damage would it cause?

28,000 miles, 2004 it the year matters...And what do you think the replacement cost will be? :(

I had one break on me at 7k miles, the center of the disk came appart and the springs popped out...before it gave up the pedal height was inconsistant...it broke within 30 miles.

Usually when a clutch is wearing out the pedal will become stiffer.

I'm on stock clutch #4.

#1 - broke
#2 - I let a buddy drive the car and he smoked the $hit out of the clutch.
#3 - nothing wrong with it really, I just replaced it when I put the super charger in.
#4 - been putting 700+-rwhp though it for around 5k miles....it's ok so far

Anyway a stock clutch cheap....about $300.00. I keep one handy just in case I end up needing it. If you have trouble finding one let me know.

Usually when the clutch goes it wont cause additional damage unless it blows up and parts come flying through the bell housing.

.....now the tow truck can cause damage

You can pickup a clutch off ebay for less than $250 shipped. I have had to replace 4 clutches(several different cars) and everytime, I would notice it slipping in 5th or 6th gear. No damage was ever done, but the flywheel needs to be scuffed up for proper seating of the disk to the flywheel.

I won't even tell you what the clutch cost in my Ferrari. The pump that controls the F1 transmission was $16k alone.

This is great news. I hope that they never kill this car. It defeats all of the normal hassles associated with owner a supercar.
