How do you smoke your tires and stay in the same place?

I watch vids of you guys lighting up the rear tires, but you are not moving an inch forward.

How do you do that?

You keep your foot on the brake, or you install a linelock. Both ways work, the linelock is just a lot more efficient since you don't have the power of the engine overriding your rear brakes. I linelock locks your front brakes only, allowing your rear wheels to spin without the rear brakes on. See?

By the way, I thought that burnouts were only impressive for cars that one wouldn't expect to be doing them.

A Focus doing a big burnout will make some kids jump and dance.
Wouldn't everyone assume that a Viper's problem would be in not doing a burnout?

Line lock burnouts are always a crowd pleaser. Kids love to see it, and I enjoy watching kids get such a kick out of the car. I installed line lock on my car a while ago and with all the fun I still haven't wasted a set of tires. At the local "cruise night" they have burn out contests regularly and people are amazed to see a Viper participate.

Come on, its only a little tire smoke. These cars are for fun, enjoy!

That's right Lee, keep it going. There's probably someone out there somewhere who doesn't know that my WIFE has an Aztec.
Shout it from the rooftops... Get a full page ad in the paper....
But this time you have really gone too far. The Aztec may be, shall we say, unusual in appearance but it does have 4wd and all independent suspension. It has a brutally powerful V6.

Any minivan that found himself in the other lane, lined up against the Aztec, would be shaking in his shoes when the lights stared coming down.
Just bring your minivan down to MIR next time and we will see who's top dog.
That's not to say that the Aztec is in any way a dog.

Thanks guys I too was wondering how that happened. I knew there was a trick to the smoking tires thing and once the rain stops I am going to move to the street.
I always thought it was done with grease rubbed on the tires first, good thing to no.

Simple,

Carb cleaner sprayed all over the tires, and then put a light to them.

This will create lots of smoke, and it will work on all 4 tires almost like all wheel drive.

Roll 'em in Zig-Zags, inhale slowly and consistently, while keeping the lighter touching the rubber, and once lit, should last for hours.

Andrew....I can't find a Line Lock that works with ABS(ordered one from Hurst but they say do not use it with ABS)...any idea who carries one that will work with ABS cars?

First, disengage your brain.

Next, do whatever is needed to cause the rears to burn.

Finally, make a note in your log book,
"Duhh, Viper seems to have enough power to burn rubber".
