I just purchased this viper and this is the only major imperfection it has. What is the best way to go about fixing it?

is it vinyl or paint? I would try buffing it out with an orbital but who knows. Is it a scuff? or is paint/vinyl actually torn off?

It looks to be between the stripes so it's paint. As mentioned above try a RANDOM orbital.

It is paint. My thoughts were to get some blended touch up and build it up and buff back to flush? I am no body guy by any means, so those in the know, your comments are much appreciated.

Sure looks like it's through and requires touch up. Silver is tough to touch-up and make look perfect. While I've never gotten perfect results from it, Langka is said by many to be very good for getting rid of the paint blob after the touch up.

If it were mine, I'd get it to a first class body shop. We have one nearby that could blow in that small spot and not paint the entire panel..I've seen it done.

You definitely don't just want to hit that with touch up paint alone if you are not a body repair specialist. That will not only make it look worse, it will make it look like a 5 year old did the fix.

The Langka System or Dr. Colorchip is the only way you want to add paint to your car. If the scratch is really deep, I would use the Applied Colors technique of fixing the paint. Now that last method is by no means cheap but then neither is your car. At least you will be ready for anymore scratches that may show up and are deep. That's the way I would go anyway. If you are a novice, choose one of those three choices or have it professionally repaired.

Does anyone know of any body shops around the Atlanta, Ga area that would come highly recommended for a repair such as this?

Honestly, since it is all the way thru, and it is silver after all, the best thing to do is take that entire flat plane (approx 1" x 5"?) and mask it off from everything else. That entire flat can be sanded down and repainted back to the factory specs and you don't need to worry about matching so much because of the areas you masked off are are tailing off at different angles... different angles means different shadowing - just a touchup trick. If you get the paint somewhat close, nobody will ever see it. :D

looks to me like some of it could be buffed out, but not all... :( I don't think it would hurt to try.

But holly crap!, that's a great looking car! Congratulations!
