I would say to go with one of the "lesser" model colors. I LOVE blue/white GTS', and the GTS-R white/blue is awe inspiring. Unfortunately for both, there are approximately sixteen gazillion models of each one out there. There are red ones out there as well. Black GTS' are harder to find from 1999/2000, as are silver. Yellow and dark blue are 2001 colors, so there is no telling how many may or may not appear in model form. Nope, if I were going to custom paint a model, I would choose something like steel gray, which was a "one year only" color (2000). It also looks pretty sweet as a model, as evidenced by this steel gray ACR with silver stripes I recently had done:

In this case, we used actual Dodge Viper paint directly from Mopar. The color isn't close - it is dead on. It may take a little more work, but the result is that you have a true Viper color, and one that none of your friends can buy anywhere.

Good luck, and have fun!

Cougar, While I applaud your choice of metallic blue with white stripes (I'm biased) if you read Jon's post more closely, what he said was that the blue w/ white stripes was offered for 6 months in 1996 AND all of 1997. Not quite as exclusive, but still very attractive. Note that 1996 GTS's had the stripes running through the rear license plate depression, while on 1997 blue GTS's the stripe did not run into the depression.

Cougar,

The '96 / '97 Blue is a metallic blue and it was the only Viper Blue up until the new Sapphire Blue, which is almost Black. There were about 1850 blue with white stipes total...

eh ........ how about silver with black stripes. Invokes images of 67 big block Corvette or 65 A/C Cobra. It's a lineage thing that also happens to look spectacular on a GTS. I should know!

White/Blue stripe GTS was ONLY available in the commemorative edition GT2 (looks like a GTS-R, but essentially a GTS with lots of beautiful commemorative cosmetic goodies).

There is a few (2 - Jon B?) white GTS' lurking out there (Herb H?) that were prepared for Chrysler management.

Any other white/blue pics you've seen can be:

a) custom repaint
b) '96 RT/10 with hardtop (which was available as white/blue stripes, although the stripes did not extend down the entire front hood)

there was only one car (97 RT/10) that was ever built without the white stripes. This car is located in Michigan and to my knowledge is the only blue rt/10 without stripes
