I\'m back!

Called Bill Pemberton today and put my name on the list for a 2003 Viper (check's on it's way Bill!).

I should have ordered from Woodhouse when I got my 98, but I did the right thing this time.

Now the long wait begins (again!). How many other 2003 Viper guys? I haven't been around this board much because it's depressing not having my car, and missing it, and seeing all of you having fun with 'em.

Looking forward to getting the new car. Luckily I am still the owner of my 98, still registered, etc, so I can get a certificate. Gotta call VCAHQ and re-register as a VCA member for the coming year.

I'm psyched!

Hi, Mike! I also have an '03 on order with Woodhouse. Fortunately, I now own a new Viper so I qualify for a certificate. So where is your '98? Obviously you haven't had the insurance company total it out.

Re: I\'m back!

Hi guys...

Yeah, it's great to be back in the club... thanks for the welcome
smile.gif

Venom, I still technically own the '98, because the insurance hasn't paid me yet. Until they do, it's my car - still registered, paying insurance, etc. I was lucky, because if they had bought it from me, I'd be ineligible to get a 2003. So I'm going to now delay THEM paying ME until I get my certificate

The extra good part to this is I can re-join the VCA, and I can attend VOI7! You slow-pokes better get your cars in good running shape, because I fully intend to run a 11.50 in this car bone stock
smile.gif

Joe, thanks for the kind words... looking forward to more events with my "new" new Viper.

NE Guys, I'll let ya take it for a spin - hopefully it will be all it is supposed to be. Still don't like the look, but I think it will grow on me. As long as it runs 11's easy, I'm happy.

MIKE! To be eligible to order a 2003, "The Rules" say you had to own the Viper new, from a Dodge dealer, and still own it as of 11/15/01. The way I read that, (and I could be wrong) you could certainly sell your Viper now, ie post-11/15, and "invest" the proceeds to buy your 2003. Other opinons? Joe? TonyE ?

Does one have to have continuous Viper ownership til 11/15? Til time of Order? Other opinions?

Re: I\'m back!

Hi Jon,

Well, I did buy the Viper new in 1998, and I still do own it now even. It's still registered in my name, I still pay insurance on it, and excise tax, and the extended warranty is still in effect. The insurance company hasn't worked out a mutually agreeable settlement with me yet, so until they do that, they haven't "bought" the car, and it's still in my name - no different than if I just clipped a curb and got minor damage.

I know it won't be worked out by 12/10/01, and I intend to call on that date to get a certificate #. Until I am guaranteed a spot in line to get a 2003, I'm going to hold off on "selling my car" to the insurance company.

Jon, I just emailed you - got a couple of questions and a few Viper parts you might want.

Re: I\'m back!

The November 15th date is the LATEST for "beginning of ownership" ... not end of ownership. So, from what is written so far, "still own" means just that...

I would hold out a bit more... I think you need to STILL OWN until the paperwork is approved.

Re: I\'m back!

Hiper,

Have we met before? Haven't seen you at any of the events this past year - hope you can make some next year! Would be great to meet you - and get a ride in the 911 perhaps? (another of my favorite cars)

As for racing - oh, boy... did you pick the wrong person to challenge to a race
smile.gif
. I LOVE drag racing - my '03 will be at the track just as soon as it's broken in. I ran an 11.80 in my almost-stock '98 last time out, with a best ever of 11.68 in it, so I think I can take ya, if your car is stock, that is
smile.gif

Would be fun, win or lose though!

Re: I\'m back!

Wasnt me. Mine is put away for the Winter. I have no desire to be a statistic.

Hiper, welcome to the club. I'm sure we will be seeing a lot of each other this summer. I am working on a whole mess of things for NEVCA to do.

Re: I\'m back!

Don,

Since I am such a nice guy, and since I have a spot in my garage that used to hold a Viper, I will selflessly and generously offer my garage to store your Viper. I will even take it out once a month to keep the tires from flat-spotting and the lubricants circulated. And I won't even charge you! Just don't check the mileage before and after, ok?

Re: I\'m back!

Hiper, we are still putting stuff together. We will however be sending stuff out in the mail/email once we have a good line up. And of course, this is still assuming that folks didn't write in Mickey Mouse on the ballots. Called VCA yesterday, and our voting STILL isn't done.

MarkO, right next to the old broken down 30's farm truck. Got a spot picked out already. Just bought some fresh wood to hold the trunk open, so the ****'s and mice should have a nice nesting area.

Mike B, how can I pass up an offer like that. I'm sure there would only be an extra 10k miles or so on it
