I'm trying to gauge interest on a group buy of B&M shifters for the Gen II

Ok here's the deal. I've been thinking about changing shifters for a while now. The Hurst shifter seemed like a candidate, however after reading about clearance issues with that shifter and the fact that youv'e got to remove the shifter to pull the trans out has me thinking otherwise. Hurst ,B&M, and Flowmaster are all part of the same group now. I'm guessing due to overlapping product lines they have done a soft cancellation of building the B&M shifter. I spoke with a gentleman at B&M today and told him about the issues with the Hurst shifter, and asked him if I was able to get enough interest for the B&M would they do a short run. So if enough interest can be generated here, they may consider doing a run for us! Who's interested..............

You don't have to pull the trans to install the Hurst. Just simply unbolt the trans brace and lower the transmission an inch or so. Slide the shifter in, and raise the trans back up.

Actually I think your misunderstanding me. I'm not talking about installing the shifter, I'm talking about removing the trans. With the stock shifter or the B&M which has copied the OEM shifter, you simply remove the shifter handle and then proceed with the standard trans removal procedure. I personally don't like any aftermarket parts that add a step in future servicing. That's just me.

Anyone have any pix of what the B&M looks and feels like? May possibly be interested. I want to keep the car mostly stock but this is one of those little ones that may be worth it.

Also note that this shifter allows the use of the factory shift knob or any other knob that was originally made to work with the factory shifter, ex. I don't see from the pics on there site does it have the lock bolt to adjust the in gear setting aswell? I remember using a shifter in the past that had an adjustable screw so once in gear you could back the screw to the shift rod to keep it from over throwing the gear and bending the internal forks, unless I'm dreaming this up??? I can't remember if it was B&M or Hurst but thats the one I want.

Neither the Hurst not the B&M that I have owned for the Gen 2 Viper have the feature that you are talking about. The picture on the box for the Hurst shows an adjuster screw like you are talking about; but, it looks like a generic picture, not identical to the Viper shifter.

The earlier versions had the adjusters, but since the T-56 trannies have positive stops, B&M dis-continued using them, just not necessarry.

Okay, some details. I appologize for the lack of info. this past week, I've been working crazy hours and have had little time to do anything else. I did have a chance to play phone tag with B&M and did get some info. First the good news...........they said that they would be willing to do a special run for us. The catch being a run of 100 units. I am going to get in touch with them this week and see what I can do as far as the numbers. I see interest is up which is great.

Thanks for looking into this! If they won't/can't lower the numbers enough to make it work for what is likely to be a couple of dozen VCA/VA members, perhaps one or more of the supporting vendors would want to get it on it and have some on their shelves.

How early are we talking? 93-95 or 96-01? I definitely don't feel any positive stops on my 97.
