I am in So. Calif. it is beautiful sunny 79 degrees, perfect day for a cruise, NOT!!! I dropped the Viper off at Dodge yesterday, they are yanking the motor, sending to Arrow in Michigan for a complete re-build. They say 6 weeks I figure more like 8-10 weeks. I would like to thank everybody on this board who have given me their pearls of wisdom regarding this matter especially Chris (Y2KGTS) who first brought this motor defect to my attention. What's worse is I just sold my 427/435 69' Vette roadster, so now have no speed fix. Oh well there's always the Harley. On the up side the dealer told me Arrow re-builds the motors to GTSR specs hence around 25 more H.P.. If anybody else is having this done (Chris) please advise on turn around times. At least I can still look at my snake, once the motor is out I'll have her towed to my garage while the motor is being done. Any suggestions on how to continue with life without the Viper?????

Come on guys, poor Ron is having major Viper trauma, and you are taunting him!!!

I feel for you, Ron.

However, now these guys have me wondering -- did you ever dyno the car? If so, you can hold the dealer to his claim. Not that you'll have a legal leg to stand on, but at least you could check his word. It is kind of suspicious that they started yanking the motor before getting your go-ahead. You could have come in and taken the car for a dyno run, but it's too late now. Hmmmm....

Thank you for your sympathy Venom Lover, I had the car dynoed two months ago and have the dyno sheet, it is kinda funny they said they needed to run an oil consumption test for a 1,000 miles and then turned around and said they were yanking the motor. Uncorrected #s on a Dynojet 248C, SAE reading were (and I only did 1 run) 400.3 RWHP, & 432.3 RW torque. I will go back to the same place after I put 1,000 breakin miles and check it out, Will keep you adivsed.

Hi Ron,
I am in the same boat as you....(Well almost.) My car is in Portland not Spokane, WA with me. The motor has been pulled and sent off too. BUT there is snow on the ground here....Like that makes me feel any better....I am having extreme Viper withdrawals and my wife is ready for Spring to be here already so I will shut up.

Even if the motor comes back in Jan. I won't have the car back until spring.....AHHHHH

I am glad the motor is getting fixed under warranty and that it should come back ALOT stronger than stock. (1994)

Hang in there and wish for bad weather while your car is gone.

Rebel, don't want to burst any bubble but there are no guarantees that your engine will come back even one hp stronger. What you are getting is a fresh rebuild. Nothing more. Those that post that their car is 25 hp stronger probably warped a head and it was milled so they got a bump in compression ratio (and thus a little more hp). Twenty five or more, I doubt very much.
I had mine rebuilt earlier this spring and I claim my original was stronger but, than again, it had more milage on it. The new one may come into it's own in a couple more thousand miles. Next year will tell the story. Either way, I know it is fresh. Good luck but don't bank on GTS-R numbers because you need to pay Caldwell Engineering BIG dollars for that. I think it's somewhere around 16K for a freshening up of your R motor.
