Just ordered an 04\' Viper!

Well I finally did it. I ordered a Viper. The ordering process was as smooth as, well, sandpaper. Never in my life was it sooooooo difficult to pay 100 g's for something. I really thought who was doing whom the favor? I think if Christ himself walked into a Dodge dealer they would have gave him a tough time. One of the dealers here stated I simply could not get one, I had to be a previous Viper owner to get a new one. Now I know this was true for 03' but not for 04'. Well they simply did not understand this and refused to order it. Another dealer told me you do not buy them from Dodge, but directly through Chrysler. Finally I demanded the last Dodge dealer here in Vegas to get me one. After a few uppercuts and my patented left-hook they succumbed and "allowed" me to order one. I have to say the ordering process leaves much to be desired.

Those gripes aside, I am really looking forward to it. They stated it is guaranteed to arrive in two months. I can't wait.

I have some questions regarding it and it would be greatly appreciated if someone can answer them for me.

First off, are there any options for the 04' Viper? The salesman really did not know, and the Dodge website does not list any options for the current 03', so I am somehwat unsure. I read in the "04' model changes thread" that trunk carpeting and red brake calipers are now standard for 04' Vipers. Were these options in 03'? If they were, they are not listed at Dodge's website. Any info on this will be great.

Secondly, will Dodge give Viper owners their own username and password to a special online site with pictures and information of their Viper being built? The salesman stated Dodge did this in 03' but he was not sure if they were doing to do this in 04'.

Finally, how are the MGW accessories for the SRT-10? Alot of their paraphanilia looks really good, just wondering if they are really good.

Well its great to say that I own the elite American sportscar. Being a Vette owner I always mitgated the Viper, not wanting to admit that there was just something better. Well seeing is believing and after I saw one of these beasts roar down the road I was a believer.

It came out to 98k even with taxes, destination charges, fees, etc. I saved 5k from the recent elimination of luxury taxes, so that was nice.

Actually thats within two months. The salesman stated it can even come as early as a month! After reading some of the posts here of how long arrival usually takes, I am unfortunately starting to believe its going to be longer than two months.

Let's see, two dealers could not even concieve of selling you the car, but the third said "give us 100 grand (ok $98K) and well get you one". Did you call the other two back and tell them they just lost about $20K profit? I really hope this is all true, if the '04's still sell for over list price, that can only keep '03 values up!

If you contacted some of the Viper friendly dealers that advertise here, you would'nt have gotten the run around you did. Good luck on your new SRT! What color did you order?

you will be lucky if your car shows up by the end of december(i hope i am wrong for your sake), but i have order three cars('01, '02, '03) orders went in on first few days and the soonest i got my car was was dec 12('02)jan('03) one was april('02). dont be suprised if the earliest you get a car is december!

Sorry but your deal is ALLLL messed up and if you are paying 100k for it you are getting *****. You can buy and have a 2003 now for 79k to 85k. Someone (dealer) correct me if I am wrong but all you could do at this time is place a preorder because dealers are not yet able to place the 04 order with DC.

My dealer delivered with 7% sales tax 83k on a 2003. There are cars in the paper here for less than 79K$( used)

Chuck Tator has one for sale now. Silver and 79k!! You will not have a better experience than dealing with Chuck. Save yourself the 20 grand.

Well figuring that 7% tax on an $84,000 car is nearly $6,000, which brings the total to about $90,000, plus all the "fees" and shipping, $98,000 did seem a little high but not as exorbitant as some of you are stating. He did say that it would be delivered in some "special" enclosed car trailer which would be very expensive. This, to me, justified the $98k price. Am I really being taken here? If I am, is there any way to get out of this? I have a $10k deposit in which I don't really feel like losing and after coming this far I really don't want to back out.

The color is the color in which all sports cars should be, RED.

I was assured that this year DaimlerChrysler "corrected" the ordering process thus delivery would be so soon. Although from reading your past repsonses I am not sure if there is any validity behind this statement or not.

Can someone please explain to me what DC stands for? I have a feeling it does not mean District of Columbia.

Any other word on 04' options, if any?

I've heard other good things about other big Viper outlets like Roanoke and Fitzgerald. Not sales pitching, because I'd do that for Woodhouse .

But Rich, you should have done more homework. It doesn't appear you did so having only 1 or 2 posts when you started the thread and giving $100k for a Viper. No flame intended, but I say let this be a lesson in car buying, especially with high performance and high dollar cars.

The biggest issue here is that no Dealer, regardless of size , can even order a 2004 yet. Vipers must be ordered by computer, and until they show up on the Chrysler order system , we will all have to wait. Hopefully it will be soon, but I think a promise of 2 months ,though logical , is not very responsible, as the cars are done by color, and you may be ordering a color that is not done in the initial batch. Hope this is helpful and good luck.

Go back to your dealer and ask for a VON - Vehicle Order Number. If they cannot produce it - GET YOUR MONEY BACK - you have no contract / order. etc. They are lying to you now and they will continue to lie to you in the future. They have nothing to lose and are about to make a killing on you as a customer.

Talk to one of the dealers mentioned here - start with Woodhouse - they are the closest to you and have delivered hundreds of cars to very satisfied customers. Did you not get an itemized list of the charges? $98K is OBSCENE.

Run - don't walk - away from this dealer.

Welcome to the board and congrats on your conversion to Vipers. I think most, or at least many of us are ex Vet guys.
Janni and Bill Pemberton know of what they speak, so please let these boards save you some money. If you listen you will stay as "racer rich", and not end up as "racer poor". We aren't trying to put you down, we just want you to get a great car at a fair price with a great buying experience. Your local dealer is only giving you one of those three. If you buy from Woodhouse they will deliver it to you and make it a memorable experience.

All you need to know about purchasing a Viper can be answered by calling 1-800-889-1893 ...Woodhouse Chrysler in Blair Ne. and ask for Bill Pemberton....in the last 3 years I have bought 4 Prowlers and 6 Vipers from this guy.....very competitive pricing, I deal with people that know what they are doing and the car is delivered in a covered carrier by their own people right to your front door......I think you did pay a little to high, but if you are happy with the deal that is all that really matters....but for your next purchase, CALL BILL FIRST !!! MGW accesories are among the finest out there, you will not be disappointed .....Options don't exist on Vipers, they come with everything you need ...all you have to supply is the smile while you drive the finest car on the road....if your dealer can't produce the car in the time frame they say, get out of the deal and pick up one on the open market and save yourself some $$$...There is also a classified ad column on this site....visit it and shop around on the '03 Vipers.....you could easily buy a new '03 for $20K less money and they will be virtually the same identical car as the '04......ps....I have been driving my black SRT as a daily driver the last few months, it is possibly the finest car I have EVER owned....I also have a C5 Vette....there is no comparison between the 2 cars although the Vette leaves little to be desired.....

Racer Rich, I live in Vegas and am a member of the local Viper club. None of us buy our vipers locally. Because all the local dealers are awful, both in sales and service. We all buy out of state from Woodhouse or Fitzgerald or Tator. I have owned 6 vipers and would only buy from Woodhouse. Call the local VP Phil at 702 277 0560. He will help you with your viper purchase. I am a licensed Nevada attorney and you are entitled to your deposit back with no hassle. Join the national viper club, of which we have a local chapter.We will help you.You do not need to pay MSRP. And you do not pay extra for special delivery. And if Bill Pemberton tells you , no one can order one yet. You can take that to the bank. Bill never lie's except when he tells you how fast he is around a race track. The people on this board are well meaning honest people, unlike your salesperson.

They are still building '03s and will continue for the next two weeks before they start '04s. Contact your local Viper Club officers for help.
