FYI
I am no longer the Carolinas Region President - after 5 years I did not run again so that the club would have a chance to grow in a direction of it's own.

And officer or not, I have just as much right to an opinion as other Viper owners. Sometimes it may not be popular, but it's mine. And as far as being an ambassador for the Viper, I'd be willing to guess, of all the folks I have helped - Gen I, II, and III, they'd all say I was a pretty good one.

Janni, no one is saying you don't have the right to an opinion, what they are saying is you don't have the right to be rude. My viper is my toy. I'm sure you have said that your self once or twice. It's my second viper, and wont be my last. BTW, mopar offers a navigation unit, but I guess they got permission from you first.
Anyway, I'm getting in my viper and heading to the beach , top down , temp in the upper sixties..If that's ok with you...

OK, maybe I was short.

I worry about the future of the car when we're putting items into it so that one can watch movies or play games.

I worry about the future of the car when I see so few being tracked (Kai and Steve excluded, or course)

I worry about the future of the car when there are complaints about the "ride" and folks asking for things like cruise control...

I want this to be a driver's car, not a rolling video game.

Was that an apology????? :2tu:

Actually, she posts there pretty regularly and you will find that the vast majority over there agree with her 100%. In other words, that is one fight I might respectfully suggest you not pick.

I would also add that while her reply was indeed a bit harsh (tsk tsk), that she is more "viper-centric" than most of us put together. No doubt she has owned more Vipers than many of us, and driven them harder than almost all of us - combined. She just happens to be on the extreme end of the race 'em vs. cruise 'em sliding scale. Thus her very understandable reason for selling off her SRT-10, never to look back. The SRT-10 is built more as a "cruise missle" rather than a race car. The convertible-only and fake roll hoops sealed that.

To each his own when it comes to their Vipers. Custom 20" wheels, DVD players, navigation, and chrome galore: It's your car to enjoy as you wish. Hell, I had a nice chat with the owner of this SRT-10 - as he sat in the tattoo parlor with his latest artwork being inked on his back.

By the way, he said that when you came down from doing 120 mph those spinners would go for HOURS! :2tu: And yes, I am totally serious and no, I didn't diss the guy in the slightest. It's his car to play with any way he likes. Just not my style...

I hope that Mike can be encouraged to return and post more about his Mamba. He has done some very cool mods covering a range of aspects of the vehicle. This may have been a test post to determine if SRT-10 owners wanted to see more of his creativity. In the past, he shared with me some of his one-off mods and hope this thread can get back on topic and that he will offer more photos and data.

Thanks Alice, I will post some more pictures soon. BTW, I drove 146 miles yesterday, going back and fourth on beach blvd {HW90} between BILOXI and GULFPORT 20 miles of beaches
and casinos....Nothing but great comments on the the car...First you hear : LOOK.... IT'S A VIPERRRR ,followed by : check out that killer dash. And finally you hear : OH MY GOD...IT'S SUPERCHARGED.....
We all know that buying a Viper is like buying a diamond, starts out great and in the right setting gets even better... :2tu: :smirk:

Mike:

Please post details of the installed system you have already shown. I see that Crutchfield et al. has numerous mobile video units. I am gathering that you see the car as a long term hold (maybe not?), but I would like to see the engine compartment, the car lowered, etc etc.

Show us whatcha got. Please.

Very nice-exceptional! I would rather spend $5000 on other mods but its your car and you can do with it as you like. That's the great thing about car clubs you always get new ideas from other members. Who made the floor mats?

Mike:

You might want to ask Daniel Lesser (FinalGTS) if he has any of those stainless steel allen bolt sets for the dash. The black screws get chipped, and with the MGW parts, the stainless screws look very nice. A very inexpensive dress up item.

Dmitry:

I believe Chris was illustrating that there are numerous ways to approach an SRT-10 and the spinners was an illustration as to one extreme.

Did Mike mention whether he had either Sirius or XM?

BTW: The DVD screen is not solely for watching DVDs; perhaps he will discuss that part further.

We all know what Chris was trying to illustrate! Those spinners are definitely extreme! Let's just say that I will not be trading my 20inch HRE'S anytime soon for a set of those! :smirk:

You bailed on me: what is a ballpark (range if you like) for the installation? Man, that is really a fine car. Are we going to see wheels and tires and be told of the other tricks?

Ok, the wheels are round, the tires are black....

Too many to list, some are silly {car door opens hands free, no finger prints] some are good { garage door opener},Windows go up, if someone reaches inside the car, when armed, remote start ect,,, As for installation cost for S/C, about $9500.00, which included a VEC2 and FCU, NEEDED WITH THE BIGGER HEADERS IN my CAR... :) I'm keeping this one...I love all that boost..

Actually, I meant the cost of the audio/video installation...and a photo of the car from the outside.

Great DVD for the road....ZZ Tops Greatest Hits on DVD. The sound is mixed very well with accurate placement of instruments and not over saturated.

Now let's see the car from the outside.

Nothing different about the car from the outside,so Janni should like that, and to make her even happier I'm replacing the head unit with this one :(

I'm not sure how much the installation cost me, but it was below $400.00, since most of the items I bought had free install as part of the deal.

An 8-track player would lower your sophisticated geek factor. Perhaps it will help, but then again, maybe not.

Is the installer in Gulfport?
