Late 90\'s 18\" wheels

Does anybody know, are the 18" wheels on the late 90's Vipers safe for track use? If so, with slicks or treaded? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

the 18" were late '90s through 2002.

I've seen and heard bad things about the GenII 17" wheels, but not those.

Yea, I have the "problem" wheels on my '96. They are cast wheels and the welds can break during tracking. I'm looking for a set of track wheels.

I found a set of the forged 17" wheels and stuck a set of Kumho V-710 tires on them for track use. You can polish them and make them look like chrome too. The down side is that I want to upgrade to the SRT-10 brakes, and the 17" rim won't fit.
