Lee Dove\'s Venom 600 for sale, Am I paying too much?

I have an opportunity to but Lee's 1995 Venom 600. It now has 50K miles on it and still looks and runs great! I can pick it up for $33,500 but it was repainted yellow (orig color is black). Paint is real nice. What do you think?

How hard were those 50 thousand miles? Repaints are never as good as a factory job unless you pay 10K. If you want it for the rarity of a Venom 600 I'd look for one that hasn't been repainted. Just my $.02 worth.

Hmm.....the repaint does hurt resale, unless it's a high high quality job, especially if it's repainted a different color. It also brings questions to mind about the reasoning for the repaint. In this case it's likely not an issue but a lot of times it's because of wrecks etc.

However, the factory paint is crap IMO. I think a mid-level aftermarket paint job is superior to the factory paint.

Lee is a good guy, I am sure he took car of this car. BUT it was run hard those 50K miles. Plenty of 1/4 mile runs.

I would say the paint is a high quality, top dollar job. I know he blew the trans and rear (at least once each). It no longer has the NOS, but it is still a screamer. I currently do not own a Viper, but would definately like to purchase a Gen1/Gen2 preferably with the [******] package. I just thought this was a good price, especially considering all the R&D it has built into it, plus the history of blowing the doors off practically every Vette in the Southeast.

I would have it looked over by a ViperTech. But at that price, it's a lot of fun for the dollar.

That is a good deal , they run better when you drive them. Buy it if it looks good.

Well, If it only has 50k miles on it now, It could not have been hurt much. It had 46k when I sold it...

The reason for the repaint was simple, Black had to many swirl marks for my taste.......The paint job cost almost $10,000 and you would be very hard pressed to tell it was ever painted.

Yes, $33,500 would be a deal! :2tu:
