I am looking a 94 R.T the car is all original with 19k on it. It has not had the head gaskets replaced and I am wondering is this
something that goes on all of them, and what they cost to replace? The other problem is the paint is cracked on hood by the hinge area and I am wondering what it would cost to repair and what the car is worth in this condition?

Thanks

I am also an owner of of a 17000 mile 94 RT/10 that still has the original gaskets. I am not going to wait too much longer to replace them. If you buy the gaskets (about 400 bucks just for the headgaskets) the job will be about 1000 dollars if you do it yourself with all the necessary gaskets replaced. Close to 1800 at a dealer. All Gen 1's need this done. It was the only flaw in those early years. I read every thing I could get my hands on about the pros and cons of the early Vipers. Once they're replaced you have a trouble free, fun, fast car that you don't have to worry when the gaskets are going to go. Stress cracks in the paint occasionally are an issue put a good body shop can give you an estimate.
Good luck. Even if you have to replace gaskets now is the time to buy. You will still make money in the years to come.
Good luck.

Car is worth between 25 and 28000 regardless. A year and a half ago closer to 38 to 42000.

Hood paint cracks are common on gen 1 cars. The Wizard says they don't all do it but I've had several and they all did! My current '94 has been repaired and repainted but I don't expect it to last... I did my headgaskets for a total cost of around $500 in my garage. It's a pretty easy job if you have tools and want to save a few bux. They all will eventually need to be done and it's a good way to get to know the car.

Hi guys,

Plenty of headgaskets left in stock! 398.00/pair, as well as other gaskets available upon request.

I agree that it's a good way to get to know the car,but I am a classic car guy who has restored three Mustangs a Vette and a
51 Ford pick up so I am looking for car to drive not to work on.
