GTS '00, what's the best way to get to 500RWHP without breaking the bank.
I see you guys talking about S/C's, head work, etc..
But I'm not loaded with cash.
I could be if I could move my business out of this unbelievable, over taxed country, but that's another story (50% tax BS).
So I was just wondering, what would be the best economical route.
Smooth tubes, K&N's, complete B&B exhaust?
Do roller rockers give you any more HP, what about the MOPAR computer, do you have to have the mods it describes in the MOPAR parts book.
I've got a '94 RT/10 with low miles for sale, that would help with the mod situation(maybe S/C then).
And what's with all this creampuff sh*t anyway, I see sooo much info that contradicts each other I don't know what to think.
Why would DC make the cars slower anyway?

Looks like ported heads, rockers along with headers and full exhaust should get you to 500rwhp from what I'm reading. The price should be cheaper than a S/C but then again it's 100rwhp less.

What the Mash said, call Jason Heffner before you do anything, he is emerging as the most bang for your buck solution right now. there was a recent post about a very happy owner who had installed his 575 package. But after you hear the supercharger price installed with the guarantee of a certain time in the 1/4 you might just jump right to that. That's what I'm doing, I compared everything and could not beat that price for what it delivers> If you do decide to go with Heffner and you come to town let us local VCA know we'll show you around. Heck maybe you ought to visit down here and ride in either the 575 package or the Sc package in a customer car. By the way, you won't find a nicer guy to deal with than Jason!

The package includes the following: fully ported and polished intake and exhaust runners, 2.02 intake and 1.60 stainless steel exhaust valves, polished combustion chambers, three angle valve job, teflon valve seals, optional milled deck surface at no extra charge, Crower valve springs. titanium retainers, B&B 1 3/4" stainless steel headers, 3" high flow converters, modified airbox, smooth tubes, S&B air filters, your choice of 3" cat back systems, T&D 1.7 shaft mounted roller rockers, chromoly one pice .080 wall thickness pushrods, head gaskets, intake gaskets, 10 quarts of Mobil 1 oil , MOPAR oil filter and 2 gallons of antifreeze. This package has NEVER made less than 500 rwhp on any car I've installed it on. The package sells for 11,999.00 and because we keep all the necessary parts in stock we can have your car back to you in only one week. This price includes before and after dyno tesing and a one year warranty. There are several VCA members on this forum that have this package that can verify the effectiveness of this package. Some of them are: V8huntr, Walt Mcfarland, Bad97vipergts. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at the shop at 410-766-2800. This package is also available as a mail order kit. Mash, Lee, thanks for the positive comments, you guys are too good to me. Thanks. Jason Heffner

Hello,

We also offer a GUARANTEED 500 RWHP package for any year Gen II Viper that sells for $ 11,250.00 Installed. This is naturally aspirated rear wheel horsepower and the best part is that this package does not limit the use of bolt on mods like forced air induction or nitrous oxide injection. We have carefully selected products and use design criteria that make incredible combinations without loosing daily drivability. Our 500+ RWHP packages maintain stock static compression which is CA fuel friendly and do not limit your choices for future modifications.

Please see dyno and dragstrip results on our website at the link below. We are proud to have put the first "creampuff" Viper in the 10's and we use our packages on OUR OWN VIPERS. Should you wish to upgrade and have guaranteed 9 second power for a palatable price, we can take you to that level also.

Good Luck with your search,

Tom

With all these tuners, you would think the prices would go down more. Especially in this economy. With 12 grand as the best price of all the tuners, I would go SC, without a doubt. Some of us Snake owners are not using daddy's money and actually work for a living. (no flames intended) Tuners, lower your prices. Remember, customers are like sheep: You can shear 'em over and over again. But you can only skin them once. I realize you have to make a profit. But when you add up the parts and labor, it seems everyone is about 5 grand too high. And please; no "well then go into the tuner business, then" retorts. Heck go ahead! Here is my tuner package. For $2500 I guarantee 500rwhp. I will install a 100hp shot of NOS, put some "Bud's Viper Techs" badging on, engrave a serial number on the dashboard, and wa la! I am now a tuner. Any takers?

IMO the labor charges quoted by guys like Jason, Tom, or Sean Roe are quite reasonable. Many Viper parts, on the other hand, are expensive, whether those guys are buying them or someone else is. There just aren't a lot of Vipers on the road compared to other cars, so the companies that invest in tooling, jigs, dies, molds or whatever to make parts have a much smaller total number of units to spread their development costs over. And undoubtedly some companies also simply charge more for some items because the Viper is an expensive car and many of the owners can and will pay it, just as there are some tuners whose prices do seem very high for certain items or packages. But if you think either Jason or Tom could make money selling their $12k 500 rwhp package for $7k, I think you're way off base. I guess everything is relative, but I've heard far more Mustang owners complain about $600 catbacks than I have Viper owners complain about $1,400 catbacks.

Ditto... it seems that most of the price is the parts. I think it's the parts manufacturers doing the gouging here. Headers over $2500? You gotta be kidding me. It's just because of the Viper name on them.

Although I am not sure why it is costing 6-7k or more to have heads worked on...?

Jason will be getting a visit from me sometime in the next few months. All I ask, Jason, is that you don't have any CHEVYS in the shop when I bring my GTS. Chevys have cooties. They really do. ;-)

One other thing that seems to be slipping your mund is the fact that I offer a warranty with my packages. Yes the parts are ridiculously expensive especially when you don't cut corners by using inferior parts to bring costs down, which I won't do because if you're not going to use the best parts than how can you warranty it? I designing all of my packages there are several things that are kept in mind. The main thing is durability, these are high performance cars and you can't modify someones car and start setting up guidelines on how to drive it, don't rev it over X amount of RPM, don't take it to a road course, don't speed shift it etc.. The customer has to be able to do what ever they want, aside from running it with no oil in the engine. Another thing is streetability and driveability, believe me, once you start modifying your car to the point where it is no fun to drive on the street you will be very unhappy with yourself and your tuner. One of the last things is price, you have to think, well, how much are the parts, how long does the job take, how much R&D time do I have in this, and eventually you will come up with a price that if a customer does have a problem you'll be happy to fix it at no charge. One other thing being overlooked is the fact that packages like Tom and I are offering are roughly half the price you would pay from some other flashy big name tuners. To get the kind of power I offer with this package from some other select tuners you'd have to come up with over 20K, now I have to say that is a little on the high side. If you ask me, prices that Tom and I offer are without a doubt the best that the Viper community has ever seen from a reputable tuner. Just my $.02. Thanks

Your dream can indeed become a reality!

There are many reputable tuners that can transform your Viper to these power levels. Many of them have aleady responded to your post.

I am not sure where you are located, but, depending on your needs, it may make sense to choose a reputable tuner nearby.

We have been upgrading Viper's performance for over 4 years now. We have developed 4 performance packages ranging from 500 to over 750hp. I believe we now offer the MOST powerful naturally aspirated package offered for the Viper. It runs on regular 91 octane pump gas too and can pass the emissions sniffer!

We have a team of 7 experts and a very large installation facility equipped with several lifts, a Dynojet, and Viper computer tuning software.

Based upon the information you provided, our LETHAL 600 package will give you what you are looking for. Our philosophy may be slightly different. In all of our packages, we don't just provide power parts. We strengthen other areas and make necessary modifications to ensure maximum reliability and longevity. For example, our LETHAL 600 package comes with the following:

Corsa 3" cat-back
APEX 3" cats (pair)
Ported and polished heads assembled with aftermarket parts
Unitrax half shafts
T&D 1.7 roller rocker arms
APEX chromoly pushrods
Fluidyne radiator, 180 degree thermostat
APEX silicone radiator hoses
Custom computer tuning

This will ensure you make maximum power safely. The package starts at $12,299. The last Viper we transformed gained over 120rwhp on the dyno with this package. When you look at packages, it would be wise to consider the vlaue of what you are getting. The computer tuning, tuning box, radiator, radiator hoses, and thermostat add up.

You can always call us with any questions or to just talk Vipers!
Good luck in your quest.

Regards,
Wayne (LTHL VPR)

Yes there are tuners and then there are toners but do not look for your dreams in a dyno slip unless all that you want is a dyno slip saying 500RWHP.
There are 3 tuners w/ 9 sec cars and you might want to start there. Do your homework and talk to each tuner until you feel good about what you will get for your dollar. I am not saying that other tuners not running 9 sec cars are bad but there is more than a dyno slip.
BTR Tom Welch has a package and a 9 sec run
TNT out of Houston has several 9 sec cars under their belts
RSI Houston has a 9 sec world record car.
Then again you have the others that do good to great jobs, the Florida tuners have packages, Heffner seems to have a following and ready to work with you.
So do you see where you need to do some homework? All the post of bring it here, he did my Viper could mean everything or just a friend w/ a good PR team. Do not rely on a dyno slip, they are not all reliable. Take the same car to 4 different dyno shops where the air, temp is the same, the engine is cooled to the same temp and you will still get anywhere from a 20 to 75 RWHP difference.
HOMEWORK, have the tuner put it in writing.
CALL & TALK, it is your hard earned dollar so spend it wisely at a tuner of YOUR choice and good luck.

Are you saying the items that you listed below increased HP by 120 HP to the wheels?

i have Heffner's performance head package. my car made extra 80rwhp from Heffners heads. Jason's head package is great deal and you can not get anything better for the $$. i also have cats in my car.

Jason i can't wait to put that blower in my car. can we say 700rwhp on pump gas all day?

p.s
car just takes off everytime when i give some gas. throttle response is great!

I'm with Gerald, and I can't believe it took so long for someone to say it... "Sean Roe Supercharger". It's got to be the #1 for performance vs value on the market..

Plus you get to put it on yourself if you like, which is a huge plus in my book. Any excuse to get a couple of buddies around, sink beer and break, I mean tune cars is a good thing where I come from.

B;

If you'll check my posts on the "performance mods" category under the title "hats off to Heffner" you'll see how I feel about my mods and get a fair bit of input from others also.

In the end, I guess it comes down to what you want to use the car for and your own comfort level with the various options. It's clear we have a bunch of neat choices thanks to the likes of Jason, Sean, DLM, and others. Great time to be upgrading.

One last thing. Just because I --or you--have an "all motor" car doesn't mean we can't hang a blower off of it by and by. I suspect Jason's s/c treatment on top of the 575 (ya, Jason, I hear you, forged pistons first!) might make me grin.
