If you want collectable... get a '97 Blue and white convertible. Good luck finding one. Or get a '98 GT/2.

Hi

Who cares about some guy that wrote a book call Buyers Guide( I know the book) saying that the 2000 is the lowest for collectability buy a Viper for yourself what you want, any Viper is a Viper it doesn't matter.

Mine is 1 of 99 only I think that is pretty low number,, also I don't know why they would rate the 2000 as the lowest one could argue that the 94's highest production year should be lower.

It will never end, this year is better then that year, red is the fastest.. AHAHAH. If your worried about collectablity get a 1998 GTS-R, or a 99 ACR, etc
Thanks, I have not ruled out a Steel Gray onebut would rather have the ABS if I can. The Steel Gray w/stripes was the car that made me fall in love with Vipers. I saw on in Wildwood at the Hot Rod weekend and said I want one. Believe me, if the right SG one comes along I will jump on it.

What is different about the "Forged" engines? I tell you.

The only forged difference on a 96, 97, 98, 99 motor and a 2000+ motor is the Forged Pistons. THAT IS IT. No other "forged" differences.

Many other little changes, but nothing to do with "Forged" parts.

Qoute
What are everybodies thought on the 2000. I was told to stay away since it has no ABS and no forged bottom end.

Not directed at anyone, but here is what I think....

Want a collectable, listen to the book. Maurice knows vipers.... He one of the main guys who started the VCA.

Here you go....

1. 1998 GT/2

Here are some great vipers to have long term... (no particular order)

'97 Blue and White Convertible (harder to find than a 98 GT/2) Only RT/10 with full dual factory GTS stripes.... AND IT's VIPER BLUE.
'99 ACR (or any ACR for that matter)
'96 /'97 Blue and White GTS (Not hard to find yet, but will also be a good one to have)
'02 FE (Still low miles car to be had, but they will dry up soon)
'92 RT/10 (Mostly hand built custom vipers with serial # hoods, custom 2 piece exhaust manifolds & other cool one off parts)

The FE kind of surprises me since they made over 300 of them.

Does everybody think the FE will be one of the more collectable cars in the future? They did make 360 of them.

Any of you guys with low mile Graphite GTS's w/stripes and < 10k on them ready to sell me your car yet? I hear there are some great deals on new coupes, you could probably find a real nice Crystal Slate Coupe at great prices.

Actually, I am tempted to go with the CS Gen III Coupe after hearing some of the absurd prices some of the non supporting dealers are asking for the nice genII's. Actually not much difference although I suspect they will be sitting on them for a long time with prices in the 60's and 70's. They are not there yet, maybe in a few years. :nono: Hopefully next year right after I find mine. :nana:

Whats the problem? You have found your car.... Its at BJ Motors.. Bernie has a great reputation. And I can tell you, that car looks brand new. He is less than 200 miles from you. All you have to do now is buy it...

If you think your going to find a low mile Graphite car, for much less $$. You may want to stop your Viper search now.. not going to happen..

I've been telling him that too. Maybe he will share with the rest why he does not like that car and we can clear it up for him. I already did but maybe
more voices would convince him. He has a reason but not my business to share something he told me privately. That car is perfect and I had a Viper tech go over it when it was sitting next to the GTS I bought.

His price was not my issue with that car, he was right on in that department. I will probably take a ride this spring and take a look at it if he still has it.

I did not like what I saw on the carfax, 7 owners. I think 5 of them were dealers and Bernie did explain this to me but I was concerned that when I go to sell the car (if I ever do) the guy buying it is going to have the same concern as me. The more I thought about it I figured it was atleast worth going to look at at and gave Bernie a call today but he informed me that he already sold the car. Ol well, I guess it is not an issue anymore. Hopefully another one that hasn't been passed around by so many dealers will come up again.

I am still playing around with the guy buying my car and hope to have that deal sealed soon so I really don't have a spot for it yet anyway but I said if I find the "right" car I will rent a garage for a while until I sell my vette if needed.

Keep looking guys. I really appreciate anything and everything you guys are doing for me. :2tu:

That really should not be an issue (as you can see by the fact the car SOLD!!)... In this particular case. I believe this car (and several other low mileage vipers, acquired at the same time). Were owned by a collector in NJ.. A lot of people just dont have time and/or patience to do the Ebay,Autotrader thing. So... they call a dealer, and sell directly to them.. Do they get top dollar? Maybe, Maybe not. But this is usually a no hassle way to sell a car.. Don't forget even though this car has 4k miles. It is going on 6 years old now. And these cars just seem to change hands often. All of them, not just this one..

Good luck in your search. But I think you really just missed the nicest car you'll find, by sitting on the fence.

Who knows, too late now anyway. I just had a bad feeling and everybody I polled agreed with me. Maybe I am being too paranoid but just think I will know without a doubt when I find the right one. I already missed a few where there was not a shadow of a doubt in my mind but was not quick enough (before I was actually ready), or had the seller change his mind. I really just got serious with my search recently so its not a big deal. If I had been looking for 6 months I would be a little more upset. If it is meant to be I will find the right car.

Agent, I was just looking at the Woodhouse site, Pemberton has a Slate Grey silver stripe 06 left. Good God man, I think they only made like 30 of them. Take it from me, I own one of each you won't be sorry if you get a Gen 3. Probably get excellent financing on it too, unlike a used car. Tell Bill we all support your quest to be done with the bow tie and he needs to help you out!

Click new then Dodge/Viper..4th from the bottom. Niiiice!

Yes, I LOVE Sapphire. It is on my list and is my second choice. Believe me, if I see a nice Sapphire w/stripes I will not hesitate to buy it. I hear it is a hard color to maintain, even harder than black but that is not an issue as I am somewhat of a detailing freak/waxer.

Do you know where any nice Sapphire cars are for sale?

Beleieve me if I did not have budget constraints I would grab that Slate Coupe in a heartbeat. I would even be happy with the Slate SRT10 vert. As much as Bill and everybody would love to see me be done with the Bow tie I don't think he would let either one go for 70g which is even a stretch for me. Would you Bill? :smirk: ;)

Do we know how many Slate SRT10's were made? I think I read 30 for the Coupes someplace.

I seen it and talked to the guy and was going to go look at it as soon as I got a flight but it appears it sold to the guy that called him before me.

Yes, I am finding you have to act quick when you find a good one.

Believe me guys, I would much rather be telling you guys how me and the wife broke the car in than bore assing you with help me find a Viper.

I have learned a lot from all of you over the years and I do thank you for this.
