So at this point I'm in the market for a replacement steering rack for my gen 3 and am finding numerous part numbers for the rack. I was wondering if anyone had some inside information on what changed and why the part number changed. It's not just a revision change (like AA to AB), this is a full part number change.
The part numbers I'm finding are:
05104889AA <--- what the 2004 parts manual calls out
04865678AB
04865678AC
04865678AD
04865678AE
It appears that maybe there are only two different ones (with multiple revisions of the second one), but does anyone know why they pulled a whole new part number? Didn't know if it was a gen 4 thing, but is there any reason a gen 4 rack wouldn't work in a gen 3?
