Well, got to make a couple more passes at the dragstrip tonight. Yes, just two. I am not an overly experienced driver, but am okay. Couldn't decide where to best shift this beast. Did get my launches down a little better, with sub-2.0 60' times (only did that three times out of a 100 with my GTS). The trap speeds seem pretty darn low for the documented horsepower, but I was pleased with the times in only my second try with this car. 11's should be a cakewalk. The times:

First Run
60' - 1.943
330 - N/A
1/8 - 7.908
1/8 MPH - 94.59
1000' - 10.184
1/4 - 12.127
MPH - 116.55

Second Run
60' - 1.946
330 - N/A
1/8 - 7.929
1/8 MPH - 94.38
1000' - 10.210
1/4 - 12.141
MPH - 116.82

Now, I can tell you with no doubt that this car is quicker than my GTS (ET), which was pretty darn fast in its own right. However, the GTS was trapping at 118 - 121 mph, whereas I have yet to see even 117 in the SRT. Not a bad thing, as the ET is still decent for a novice driver in a new car. Still, I wonder why the trap speeds are not what I expected. The car dyno'ed pretty strong (see sig) and has the "good" valves. Curious indeed.

Oh, and would anybody be interested in coming to KC if we could get the track rented for Vipers for the day? The track was completely redone in March including the return road. They run funny cars and everything else there (NHRA track). I think we can rent it pretty reasonably including workers, ambulance, etc. I would like to see if this is possible if anybody might be interested...

Chris, I would come up for this depending on what time of day and which day of the week. Thanks for your work. Sorry I missed the Whiteman AP - had to pay the bills.

You're just a few test 'n tune runs from the 11s, amigo.

Yeah the trap speed seems low based on the HP the car makes, but we saw the same thing with the SRT's at Englishtown last month.

We need some documented 60MPH rolls between Gen II and Gen II cars!

Chris,

Nice runs! I had my SRT at the track Friday night for the first time. The track was very slick and I could only muster two half-decent runs (12.51 and 12.59). I agree with Jaime Furman, that this car is hard to get down the track. I had to launch at 1,500 rpms. Launching at 2,000 rpms, I had excessive wheel spin. Also, 1st to 2nd power-shift would experience rear-wheel hop. I feel the power is there; it's just hard to get to the ground.

I had my car dyno'ed at 1,100 miles. During the break-in period, I rarely pushed it above 4,000 rpms so the computer did not have an opportunity to program in the sweet spot above this. As you can see from the dyno sheet, the SRT is already producing 440 lbs. of torque at 2,100 rpms. I think a good set of drag radials on 18" rims would make a big difference on bringing this power to the ground. Each tenth you can save on the 60' time should equate to 1.5' on the ET. My best 60' time was 2.05 and highest trap speed was 116.88 mph.

At 452 HP, you definitely have a strong car. Good luck on breaking into the 11s.

Rick, et. al.

Haven't had a god chance to make lots of measurements. But I did an 1/8th mile run tonight. I have not felt any wheel hop but an acceleration trace indicates that I did have 2 hops after shifting to second (see graph below at 4.4 and 4.6 seconds). Not a stellar run but my first recorded run using the Gtech Competition Pro. What a great toy, er I mean tool!
