My 97 GTS makes a squeal noise at a certain RPM...

My car makes a squeal noise at about 2500-3000 rpms, it sounds like a belt squeal but it only happens at a certain RPM. My friend things its the whistle of the intake at a certain RPM however I am not too sure. The car has k&n filters and smooth tubes but other than that, the intake is stock. I am probably going to take the car to DLM at some point for an oil change but wanted to see if anyone had any ideas what it may be? It never makes the noise except at a certain rpm in every gear.

I got that once I put the K&N filters and smooth tubes on, I have had it on other cars its just the car making noise with the new found air coming in over stock. Shouldnt be a big deal.

Mine did the exact same thing with the kn and smooth tubes. Nothing to worry about.

Is it a squeal or a whistle? If it's a squeal and sounds like a belt, it could be your crank pulley / balancer bolt coming loose. A whistle like a turbo could be a vacuum hose leak.
