What I am so excited about this, is that you can actually HEAR me spin 2nd and 3rd, and I STILL got something within .10 of a second of my BEST time, that I got in the COLD month of Febuary. So while my MPH isnt near my 121.85 best ET, it sure tells me that the motor (at 16k now) is breaking in nicely and making me enough power even in the SUMMER months to pull respectable times.

Time to put some GEAR into it, and end this little sherade :-D

BTW, that RUN was on STOCK OEM Michellen Pilot Sports, that are ALL but BALD now..(bald is bad, they dont hook up for crap).

Even with the bad tires it looks like you launched pretty well. What was your 60'. Glad to see people using the cars for more than show pieces. Enjoyed the video.

John

ps - I bought the 18 inch drag radials and they have made a world of difference for my stock car. With your experience and car, I bet you would run low 11's all day.

My 60 foot was a 1.90, which is just a 100th off from my best which i believe is a 1.89 or 1.87 (its on the records section, cant remember). But the 60 was good, but if you watch the vidoe, you can HEAR and SEE me spin 2nd and 3rd. So definetly a good set of tires would have helped.

I was thinking about getting the Michellen Pilot Sport CUP tires, because that way, they would be a GREAT ViperDays/Road-Course Tire and a much better drag tire then my regular pilot sports. What do you think ?? Are those drag tires good in the corners ?? how much handling do you give up with them ??

I am taking my RT/10 to the strip for the first time tomorrow and could use some pointers. I have been to the strip pleanty of times before, but not in the Viper.

What RPM do you launch at? Are you easing it out of the hole or dumping the clutch? What RPM are you shifting at? Are you keeping the throttle to the floor when you are shifting? How much air in your tires?

My car is all stock except for smooth tubes and filters. I have spoken to you on the phone before. I have the full B&B system ready to install, but want to get a good baseline at the strip beforehand.

Thanks.

Jon, you are right. I would forget about the drag radials and go with the cups if you plan on the dual purpose use. Handling is certainly not their strong suit. Nice run.

Thanks Guys, I am getting a 3.55 gear from Henry Cone (A fellow Local Viper Owner), so I will install that bad boy, and let you know what it does for me at the track. I will have NO other mods then that over what that last run had, so we'll get a pretty good idea of what a 3.55 buys at the track during the summer !! Thanks for the support !!

Max, I only use the tires at the strip. i have them on an old set of 18's, so I change them back and forth. I was told by a BFG rep. that the tires should be good for 100 to 125 passes at the strip. I am thinking probably 70 to 80, which sure beats a set of slicks. As far as miles, they said "maximum" would be 10,000, but if someone gets that many they aren't driving hard enough. :D
