I have been posting about a intermittent high idle problem I have been having and figured out what is happening but I don't know why or how to fix it. Last week my car overheated and I realized the fan wasn't working. I checked the ground running to the fan and found a lot of resistance in the wire, so I ran an additional ground wire to the fan from the chassis. Now the fan works fine when the motor get's hot - but when the fan comes on the idle surges. When the fan turns off the idle returns to normal. This also happens when I turn the air on as this of course tuns the fan on.
Anyone know how I can solve this problem? Do I have to fix the original ground wire going to the fan?
Thanks
Gary
