ON 12/18/04 I was driving my srt at about 40 mph. A POS g35 merged into my lane and hit my passenger door and keep on pushing me untill the rear wheel made contact with his front wheel( it broke the passenger axle on the srt ). It ripped off the g35's wheel and front bumper, But put me into a right hand spin were i meet a 22 inch curb and got airborne and flew about eight feet landed and went through a brick wall with the drivers side door and front fender. I'm ok but well beatin up. I happy to report the viper saved me, at the cost of it's own life. RIP SilverSnake.

The other driver was arrested for DUI and sighted for an illegal lane change.
A lawsuit was filed today. I will be getting another srt in the future. :2tu:

The important thing is you are ok. Do you have any pics available? I am curious to see how the car held up given your description of the accident.

Everyone is on key here, you are okay and even despite the other drivers stupidity on his behalf, no one was seriously injured. Hopefully he will have learned his lesson and you get an even greater snake out of the deal!

God Bless Our Snakes, every one of them! :)

Though horrific, you are so right about the integrity of the Viper.Amazing how folks are able to walk away from severe situations like this. Your SilverSnake stayed true and protected you first - great Holiday Season for all of yours since you came out okay.

Best Wishes,

So glad you are OK - looks like you got an early Christmas present. I hope they SERIOUSLY throw the book at that drunk SOB. I have no tolerance for drunk drivers.

Take time to heal - both physically and emotionally - you'll go thorugh a lot in the near future.

On the bright side, document it all and write it down - at least it'll help with your lawsuit / settlement. Hopefully with a G35 he at least had a decent insurance policy.

Thanks guys, I do have pics if some one would like to host them. It's a shame that a three month old viper dies like that. :usa:

Shame on the drunken fool, and the society that promotes party time at the local pub, telling you to control your drinking, knowing good and well the brew dictates the consumer. Zero tolorence for drunken drivers.

Hope he had good insurance. Hope you don't have any lasting injuries. Keep us posted on the outcome. You can't even buy the silver car new anymore, I don't think.

Thank God you are okay. Sorry about your car, but at the end of the day it is replaceable and you aren't.

Those SRTs are really strong. The Video of Torquenstein and passenger going off road at 150mph during the Gumball, and surviving, is another testament to the superior engineering.

VERY sorry to hear about your accident, but very glad that you're okay. Look on the bright side, by the time you settle your legal action, you will be able to choose whether you want a convertible or one of the new coupes.

Something you might want to add to your lawsuit if you file one. The G35 was MT Car of the Year last year and has won every comparison test it has been in with compliments for it's handling ability, steering etc. So if the other driver had one of the best handling cars in the world under him when he screwed up, he can't blame the car, only himself and his alcohol level. HE is the POS, not the car, that could be an additional legal argument.

If the guy was DUI, he is screwed. No way he's going to be able to argue he was not at fault in front of a jury. The only issue will be damages. I hope you squeeze enough money out of the **** so that he will think really hard before driving under the influence again.

Unfortunately, all of the three idiots that have run into me (happily not in my Viper) have been without insurance or driver's licenses. Hopefully, the guy who hit you has some $$$.

It's a real shame about your car, but still it's only a car (I know, I know a Viper is really not ONLY a car!). The important thing is that you or any other innocent person was not injured seriously or permanently.

I hope your lawyer really sticks it to that dope.

In the interim, enjoy the anticipation and planning involved in getting your new Viper!

Forgive me, but is that totaled? Looks like some body parts need to be replaced along with a wheel or two and some suspension parts. Is the frame bent? I see all the scratches underneath, but I don't think my insurance company would total it....maybe I'm not seeing all the real damage.

Having no experience (fortunately) dealing with insurance after the accident I would like use this unfortunate event to educate myself (and maybe others):

If this would happen to me I know I would not want to have the car repaired. I would want new one! This is a sports car and not only the value drops dramatically but its also dangerous - you never know about microcracks which could develop in the arm failure for example.

Is there anybody with empiric experience getting rid of the crashed-but-not-totaled car through the insurance of the person at fault? How is it in Cali which is (I believe) 'no-fault' state? Is there a chance I could sue the person responsible for the accident to make up for the difference between what is the car worth after repair and the new car?
