For those that have done the side exhaust conversion, how bad is the noise on a TT car? I know the turbos muffle this a little and there's room for a short bullet muffler, but I wonder how bad this is on a TT car...

SWs car was a side exhaust TT, but I don't believe he frequents these forums.

****** (on the Alley) is selling his. He has a sidemount TT kit and sidepipes. You could PM him on the Alley.

I know the SC cars are obnoxiously loud with sidepipes. Justin (triblk6spd) had a Roe with TWO mufflers and cats with his sidepipes and he still went back to stock. My car is loud with rear exit; I can't imagine sidepipes.

I prefer the style that Jasontiff posted. I've debated this as well.

I prefer that style as well. I keep thinking about doing this because I not only like the look, but I know the turbos will sound pretty mean as well (they will be heard). OTOH, as it stands now, the car sounds great and I'm affraid it might be too loud coming out the side. I'd want to do 3" with just a bullet on each side and I'm sure it would make some noise, even with the turbos muffling the noise somewhat.

So do it Ian, and let me know what you think! :eater:

I believe I have the market cornered on "obnoxiously loud with sidepipes"...let's keep it that way:lmao:

I was thinking 4" with a Burns or Magnaflow muffler. But like yourself, I'm a bit afraid of the constant noise in the side of my ear. Plus, my car has a very nice deep tone right now with a slight wistle.

You go first.:D

ahha. The eternal battle between looks and functionality.

I've been in a few Turbo cars, and the turbo chopps up the sound pretty well.

More of a woosh than thunder.
