Not happy with this. My side sill, inside corner at the rear where it goes up 90 degrees to the "b" pillar is starting to bubble up. Looks like slightly distorted plastic from the heat. I put some insulation under that part tonight inside the side sill, if I can keep it to this level of damage I don't need to replace it.

where did you get stainless strap clamps?

Well I took off my cats and replaced them with a muffler (pic below of my 3") But you can't just take off a stock cat because they are welded to the front section that goes to the manifold. You will need to cut them off on the front side, the back side will slip out of a flanged connector. I have tried band clamps and they leaked you might want to get it welded. A 2 1/2 outside should slip into the rear flanged connector and a 2 1/2 inside will allow you to slip it over the front cut pipe. You will need a 24" straight pipe (including the flared end) not sure where you can get that size from. You can get the clamps from jegs.com $8.69 part # 289-35979

Also most muffler shops will not take the cats off for you, but they can weld the straight pipe once the cats are off. May also cause a check engine light on a 2000. I don't have the check engine light on my 1997.

Hi Kevin, I put Balenger Headers High flow cats and Balenger 3" exhaust on my 01. I got the dreaded check engine light at about 400 miles. I just heard of a fix from Apex so I tried it and so far NO light YEE HA. The fix was to relocate the o2 sensor on the header from 30" away from the heads to about 10". As far as the cats you will get a light if you remove them, but Apex motor sports has a fix for that also for $229. I would try the high flow cats from Sean Roe, but if you remove the cats you can get 2.5" or 3" straight pipe from a custom exhaust shop, I did.

Glad we could help!

We offer 2 1/2" and 3" high flow cats for those that need them. They are US made and come with proper markings for inspection. We have seen some cats that are not approved in the US which could cause problems during an inspection.

As for our SNAKE BOX for $229:
Once you remove cats and go with straight pipe, 2 things will happen:
1) If you have a late 98-2001 Viper you will get a check engine light. The SNAKE BOX cures this
2) If you have a 96-2001 Viper your car will start surging at low/cruising rpms. This becomes very annoying. The SNAKE BOX eliminates this.

We have a number of happy customers using this box.
You can reach us at 408.562.1000 with any questions.
Thanks!
