We were told by SRT in January that the headers would be new but that the cats, muffler and exhaust pipes would be the same as 06 but without the crossovers.

That car sounded really good to me too.

The 2008 Viper ran more that a full second quicker around the track than the Z06 C&D had tested there several months earlier. And keep in mind that when the Z06 was tested, it was much cooler with much less humidity. It was evident that given the same weather conditions, the Viper could have stretched the lead by 2-3 seconds."
