Am waiting for the arrival of my Roe blower and am getting the car ready for it's new found life. Got a new aluminum flywheel from Roe and a new Centerforce clutch from Roe also. Do I need a new half shaft or is the stock one sufficient enough to handle the additional hp/tq gains? When all is said and done, I will be around the 550hp and 625tq. Thanx for the input. :D

just to be safe, I would. You may not need them if your going to run on street tires only. My stock ones have held up many runs at the track with close to 700 rwtq.

Duane,

Ya gonna need half shafts with that blower! PartsRack dude! I'm at home all day on Saturday, stop by if you have a chance. Duane, Rick with his basically stock Gen II was breaking half shafts at the track. I say get the shaft, maybe we can work a two purchase deal. Buy to sets get a % off. I'll buy a pair!

you should have the 800 hp half shafts from unitrax are the best. no need to shred your stock ones and send them thru your floor or worse. be safe. :2tu:

Whoa, wait a minute before you toss $1000 out the window, first off decide on what you want to do with your power. By this I mean are you going to run Kumho's or drag radials (DR's) and take the car to the strip, if so then by all means go for it. But, if you are going to stick to your pilots and primarily run on the street as I do (Roll-on-warrior) in my opinion your ******* your money away. On the street I think you'll find that most of your fun is on the expressway or 3rd gear hole-shots as I like to call them. Trust me your pilots won't grab hard enough from a stop to snap a halfshaft not unless your wheel hopping. In which case you'll break more than halfshafts. The only difference is going to be that your tires are going to break loose easier which relieves the stress on the shafts. I have a set of lightweight Unitrax still in the box  $1400  sitting on the floor in my office from last year that I am yet to put on. In my honest opinion if you really want to make a good investment for about half the $, get yourself an onboard wideband kit.

Rethink the centerforce clutch, I had one in my car until recently, your car will have too much power for it. The centerforce clutches for the viper are rated at max 600 hp crankshaft, not rear wheel.

Thanx for the input guys. I do plan on sticking with my pilots for awhile to see how they handle the power. I also like the roll-on starts. I will not be "tracking" my car just street use. As far as the clutch and flywheel, I already have them in hand and am waiting to have them installed in a few weeks. GTS-R001, are you saying I bought the wrong clutch? It is the clutch that Roe sold me and I figure they would know what works best with their products, that being the blower. Opinions?

IEATVETS,

My Roe Blower should be here on Tuesday with a scheduled completed install date of Thursday. Let me know what you think after you get yours installed. I too am holding off on the half shafts for now because mine is mostly a street machine.

I thought the GEN1 half shafts were not as strong as the GEN2s? Saw a post a few months ago of a twisted GEN1 shaft (Believe it was Roadkill).Just got a set of Gen2s for mine ...

i would think about getting two half shafts...

Redsnake, it's easy to recommend halfshafts when you have a sig like that, Jeez!

Remember, we are but mere mortals living in the land of 600-700HP/TQ. In our world they are a waste of $ for everyday use. I've run hard enough to sheer my roll pins in my balancer twice. I honestly don't think pilots bite hard enough, not unless you do a smoke show regularly and then launch.

I'm stupid, I didn't notice that IEATVETS had a genI.

My bad. But, I still maintain that on a genII they're not needed with pilots.

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, wrong answer there buckwheat. I busted mine in FL, many others have broken while running on pilot. Also remember it's not just the possiblity of breaking the halfshaft, more likely you'll break the ujoint, the stronger shafts have better ujoints :2tu:

Spinning of Pilot tires do not break the 1/2 shafts....BUT wheel hop will break them in a heart beat.

So your telling me that because your pilots hooked to hard  you busted the halfshafts? Or you did you wheelhop, there's a big difference. Wheelhop will do it everytime. I've been running stock halfshafts and pilots for a year now problem free. I wonder if you had faulty parts.
