Several people have asked to see my new hood, designed by Jerry Wolfe and manufactured at his Studio. It was supposed to take two months. That was a year and a half ago! I just picked it up yesterday. It still needs a "rub-out" or two, but you'll get the idea.

When I received my Doug Levin motor, Doug told me to get "Vents" installed. That's how this started. I ended up with a totally custom two-piece hood. It looks similar to stock, but notice the upward slope and where it meets the windshield (not to mention the vents).

Notice the Ghost Flames in the stripes. You can only see them in the sun...

Here are some links to photos. Some of them should show up below, as well:

Just looked at your website regarding the transformation of your Viper http://www.viperproject.com/ and it is truly amazing. You spent a ton of coin on your car and I personally love it. This would be my ideal 2nd viper (1000HP, side pipes, RT, custom everything, etc, etc). Guys you have to check out this website and see what Dan has done. Un-freakin-real! Job well done!

Hey Austin, can you be just a little bit more rude. Take a hint here, just because you do not like it, don't make the owner feel bad.

Grow up! I know now you will come back with some ******** remark to further show how rude you are.

Maybe when you get a Viper or some classy car you will do something you like and everyone else will hate, but hopefully they will keep it to themselves.

You're right, here comes the remark. :2tu:

First off, I couldnt give two [******] what you think. Secondly, everyone has an opinion, that was mine, deal with it. If I posted something on a forum that someone didnt like, I would hope they would give me their honest opinion.

Tell me you intended the irony. I’m still laughing!

Nope! That's one thing I had to give up. But what-the-hey, I don't drive it in the rain anymore anyway.

As for the guy who thinks it's ugly, that's OK. My girlfriend wasn't too happy with it at first either. She thought I "goobered" that poor Viper up even more. I kinda like the "Retro" look, and a lot of other people don't. Sometimes I need to know if something is a little too far out there. It helps keep me in check (sometimes)... :D

The most important thing is that it keeps my engine around 15 to 20 degs cooler!

My 2 cents...
First off, I respect all the work and $$$ that has gone into your project...
I would not have done the type of body/ paint and interior mods that you did...A little too "Smokey and the Bandit" looking for MY taste... But to each his own......
As far as the engine mods....WOW!!!
Best of luck to you and your ride...
Cheers,

Ya know, I think you might be right! I hadn't thought about that. I loved that movie at the time (high school). I actually love the Sapphire Blue with white stripes the best. However, that only looks good on a coupe. You think "Smokey and the Bandit" is rough, how about all the people who think I'm a Raiders fan!!

Wow, our project Vipers are going to end up being "reverses" of each other.

Yours is black with silver stripes, mine pewter with black stripes.

Your sills are silver, mine will have exposed black ceramic coated side pipes.

Your wheels Chrome, mine will have black centers.

Your engine is supercharged, mine naturally apirated: ported and polished with headers.

Your Engine has silver turned intake and valve covers, mine powder coated "black chrome"

Ed is putting oval vents in my hood too (from a Jag). They'll be further forward, just above the alternator. The vents will be painted pewter, the plan is to also paint the stock black hood "speaker grill's" pewter.

Too much fun, isn't it ;)

Looks nice. Are the ghost flames painted on or vinyl? I've been wondering about adding ghost flames, but like to do it in a removable vinyl. Thanks.

You see, this is what Im talking about. :2tu: Someone who WANTS to hear what others think, whether it may be in their favor or not. I wasnt trying to be an ass, just wanted to give my opinion without going the roundabout way. :) And you know, as I've always thougt was so true... If YOU like it, thats ALL THAT MATTERS!

Now, as for the engine, VERY nice. :headbang: And hey, if my comment made you mad in anyway, Im sorry, Just think, you have a Viper and I dont. :2tu:

One last thing. You're g/f seems to be a keeper. :D

Actually, the wheels are reinforced, powder-coated and polished. I like the stock wheels! The stock ones are now the rare ones. It makes it look "Viperish". -You spelled "Dropped" wrong...

1st off Jay... who cares ? Isn't this HIS post.. you already forced us to have to look at you project in about every forum we go to on this site.

2nd, yeah I don't want to come off as an ***, as its already well known that I am, but I would have to say the car is definitely not my taste. I think it was over done, even putting your hp numbers on the side of the hood, little over board, and along with the 70's grills for vents, seems a little cheezy. But on the BRIGHT side, damn if that isn't one UNIQUE viper.... No one will confuse it for being stock... :2tu:

3rd, maybe you and Jay can go cruising together (after his project is done, save us all from reading)? If his car is as annoying as he is, you too should match perfectly !!

I actually really like that hood and how it creeps up the glass.... the side profile of the car looks awesome.... the only thing that would prevent me from snatchin up a hood like that is the additional "Speakers" on the hood.... besides that, it looks pretty bad ***.

Change your wheels man and take off those ugly stickers on the side. I am glad you did not put your rear view mirrors on the windshield like you said you would do on your website.
Other than that car looks good

If you like them then right on but tossing some powdercoat/polish on a set of heavy ass stock wheels doesn't make them that much cooler (unless they are ACR wheels)

My bad I missed a P, that I can easily fix but spending $150k on something that looks like ass is a little harder to recoupe.
