0-40 Syn is a recent addition. 0-30 has been around a long time (5+ years)
I used it exclusively, when I was in Alaska, with a StealthTT. Great oil pressure on startup, even at 30-below.

As far as RACING, Ihope Tom (FLOGoR) chimes in. Believe him.

I run 15-50 Synthetic.....Mobil (Or Motul!) but I worry that oil-starvation affected cars might be better off w/ 0-40.

Vipera: Several quesitons there, we run a pair of Comp Coupes in the SPEED World Challenge Series. For about three years all we ran was Mobil Synthetic 0W30 as we thought we were getting about 6 additional horsepower and speculated that this would drain quicker to the pan helping with hi G oil starvation. Although we witnessed no failures we probably did not have enough research, since the thin oils were alleged to trap air with lots of rpm and heat and cause lifters to reduce their "lift". We now run the 15-50. Unless you pound the heck out of your car for long periods of track time I doubt you are doing your motor any disservice either way, just keep it clean and full.
