Wishing you all a Merry christmas, I wanted to share my new baby through photos taken on a sunny (for a change) day. The top is up because it's cold outside, and the car is so new it takes 90 ft lbs of elbow grease just to get it latched. Any questions, any one? If they aren't attached, I'll try again. :)

If we say you're allright, you're safe; if not, you're lunch....LOL, but true. She's great with children and family, though.

Any questions, any one?

I do have a couple of questions!

1. How would you compare the transmission from your GEN IV to that of a GEN III. Is the new trans still notchy to shift when the car is cold? How 'bout when everything is warm, is there a big difference in how the cars shift or just a noticeable one? I could never shift too quickly in my GEN III because the transmission was so bulky and heavy feeling. It was quite irritating.

2. While the GEN IV is no doubt faster than the GEN III, how does the car 'feel' compared to the GEN III around town?

I know having a new car can sometimes make things seem better than what they really are so, please try to be as unbiased as possible. When I first bought my GEN III, to me, it was the greatest car ever. But after really getting to know the car, small stuff here and there started ******' me off. Like the wheel-hop etc.

That's all I can think of to ask for now! :D

Is it me or do the stripes in the back look wider than on the front? Must be the angle of the car. Looks beautiful though.

It's not you---this is an 08, and the stripes on all the 2008 Vipers are tapered, because of the new hood. The taper is necessary to keep the stripe out of the louvres.

Tito,
1. The transmission was notchy in my '05, and was at its worst when cold. NOW the '08 transmission is not notchy, hot or cold, so far. That being said, I have another 75 miles to put on it to have it fully broken-in, so I have never put the pedal to the metal. If it's notchy then, I'll repost.
2. The suspension and tires made a world of difference. The old runcraps were the worst tires I've ever had on any of my 4 Vipers. These tires/suspension go straighter than anyof them. In the soft loam soil of Louisiana heavy 18 wheelers pulling gravel or large pine trees cause the asphalt roads to develop deep ruts. When the runcraps were on my '05, the tires wandered all over the road following the deepest ruts. These PS2's don't do that nearly as much. I'd say 90% better than the runcraps. Bottom line: no tires this wide is going to handle ALL the ruts in the roads, but the steering is so precise that I never feel like the car is wandering out on its own. Yessirree. This car drives a LOT better than the Gen. III's with runcraps. I never had a chance to drive a Gen. 3 with PS2's, but if I had a Gen. 3 I'd burn those runcraps (JON B. told me so, but did I listen-no, I opted for two runcraps in the rear, and ended up losing the car in an emergency maneuver) and get some PS2's Immediately, if not sooner!

Thanks for that great write-up. I've been leaning towards the '08's lately but also want to give it time and read more first hand driving impression like yours about them. Congratulations on your purchase - great color scheme!

My Vipers always engaged in OFF roading, but not on purpose :D. Once at little Taladega I went 4 wheels off the ground at turn 1, but no harm done. I only went off course twice at TWS and once at Road Atlanta. If you don't spinout at least once, you just ain't trying hard enough. The trick is to do it where you won't HIT anything. LOL
