I am running Gen.3 ten spokes on my Gen.1. I am going to buy Nitto tires to replace the run flats. I need some input on Invo's and NT05's. I do mostly spirited street driving. I put maybe 1000 miles or less a year on the car. What's your opinion?

For the exact stock sizes on those rims the Nitto Invo is your only Nitto option. The Nitto Invo is probably better suited for general street driving, especially if you get caught in the rain as it has more pronounced tread depth. The NT05 has a softer compound (stickier) and probably won't last as long. You can get a slightly smaller rear tire (335/30 vs 345/30) in the NT05 and slightly bigger (285/35 vs 275/35) front:

The Invo is a fantastic all-around tire and is our biggest selling model:

Either Nitto is a great option and the choice of numerous Viper owners from around the world. For a few hundred bucks more you might also consider the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, a tire which many are lauding as the best all-around tire available for the Viper - albeit only in 2003 - 2010 wheel sizes for now:

https://www.viperpartsofamerica.com...t-set-for-2003-2010-viper-275-35-18-345-30-19

We offer free shipping inside the US on all tires too, so be sure to consider that when shopping. Good luck in your quest!

For just few extra bucks the michellins Super Sports is a much better choice and they will last longer.

If you only drive 1k/year, you're most likely going to run out of time before you run out of tread. Try looking into Pilot Sport Cups.

I think the Sport Cups can be dangerous on the street -spirited driving. They are like banana peels until up to temp. Street tires are way more grippy and predictable thoughout a wider temp range (normal driving) The Cups are great when they are hot, slippery when not. -don't ask how I know. :crazy2:

Thanks for your input. I had already decided to go with the Nitto's to save some money, I just couldn't make up my mind which Nitto tire to purchase. If anyone has more input on the two Nitto tires it would be appreciated. Thanks

I have the NT05s on the Viper (same setup as you actually) and the Invos on our Charger. I went with the NT05 since I want to play a bit on a track as well as take in a few parking lot auto cross events. Both are nice. It may just come down to - How much rain do you plan to drive in?

I'm using Invo's as my street tires on the ACR now. Better traction than PSC unless the PSC's are hot, not as much max traction as the PSC's when hot, better ride quality than the PSC's, very happy with them so far. Sidewalls are a little soft in spirited cornering (of course I am used to the PSC's). Don't have any input on the NT05's.

My personal choice of tire from EXPERIENCE is the M/T MICKEY THOMPSOM ET STREET RADIAL P345/35R18........best tire I have EVER used for daily driving, drag racing, on my Vipers ever......like Elvis says.....stick like glue.......and that is with 30 lbs of air......

I've had 2 Twin Turbo vipers, both have only had nitto invo's. Considering I ran 5.80's (8 second 1/4 mile) in the 1/8th mile on a 19/20 invo setup, I'd say that tires work just fine. Nobody else has come close to that with any other tire.

Yeah, it's crazy how well the Invos hook for a street tire.

For straight line performance the Invos are great, but the side walls are not stiff enough for track use in my opinion. They give away progressively and have a neutral feel, but when they got hot they were pretty slippery.

Invos are not that great on a roadcourse, but awesome for the street and dragstrip (weekend warriors).

Roy, Where Did You Buy These From & What Kind of Price are they? I Went with the Kumho's & I Really Like them (just street driving & No Rain) they also seem Really Sticky & I Love the way they Look (but it doesn't seem like to many people on here buy them or at least I never hear anyone saying anything about them Good or Bad, or they Not A Very Popular Tire). jmo!

I think the Kumho XS is an awesome tire for the street/roadcourse. I have been through 5 sets of them. Absolutely love them. The problem is that Kumho was involved in a lawsuit for 'unintended oversteer' on a Viper. So they stopped production of Viper sizes to avoid any future hassels. They still make 275/35-18, cuz that size fits the rear of other cars, but the rear for the Viper has been long dis-continued. Kumho makes racing tires, (V710) but not in Viper sizes.

Thanks Allan, I knew something had to be up with them! I know the person I bought them from (I guess he's STILL Suspended on here) but he use to call the Nittos a Name that Rhymes with Nitto (Sh---- Nittos) I Don't know If it was just because he sold the other tires or not, but he didn't talk very highly of the Nittos. jmo!

Matt....I just two days ago ordered another set of the M/T ET STREET RADIALS for my TT Viper to replace the new M/T STREET SLICKs that I have on it right now......I order them from JEGS and with shipping and all cost a little over $700....They will be here this week.......I DO NOT KNOW why no one talks about this tire and buys it??????? I just know from personal experience with Vipers that they love this tire and it fills up the entire rear wheel well area and look and work AWESOME with any power range Viper...stock or modified......your wheel spin problem will be over and you can put all your power to the pavement and be G O N E in wayyyyy less then 60 seconds, ha :headbang: :D

Sounds vaguely familiar! :omg: The Nitto is a very popular tire for the Viper and we rarely hear anything but glowing reviews on them. One of our guys has had them on his Viper since 2009 (before VPA even existed) and loves them. With the softer sidewall they don't provide especially good feedback on a roadcourse, but they are great on the drag strip and a superb overall tire for the street. Cool tread pattern and priced right too.

Yeah, .....*****. I really liked the XS. But that pushed me to Sport Cups, and now probably the R6. .........I guess I would have grown out of the XS anyway, being discontinued just forced the issue sooner.

Went from Kumho XS to Nitto NT05 to Michelin SS. All have been very good tires for aggressive cornering. I did put the NT05s to rest after 5 20 minutes heats at Motor Sport Ranch in Houston last summer. They were worthless after that, but ambient temps were VERY high as well.

Yeah, those poor NT05's didn't stand a chance against you that day, I remember watching you out there.... :D
Oops, these are Vipers, we aren't suppose to race them..... ;)

Have you tracked with the Super Sports yet? Hear great things about them for the street but haven't seen a lot of posts about them on the casual track day.

Hehe, yes, I did sort of push those to the limits I would guess. :drive: Thanks for noticing brother! The NT05's did great till that 5th heat and they were just done. I truly realized this as I spun out into the grass...for the first and last time.

No I have not had the MSS on the track yet. I did however drive the MSS about 700 hard miles in the mountains in Arkansas in October. The MSS did an excellent job there and I never once found the limit of the tires and we did drive fairly hard in the twisty sections. I would buy another set off the MSS if I needed those tomorrow. The MSS did great in the rain on the way home as well which was a BIG PLUG over the NT05.
