Anyone have one of these laying around their garage? I wanted to experiment with one for painting. I say experiment because I have no natural artistic ability but I can tape and spray paint like a pro.

Question though, why rustoleum?

Oh pullllease. Do you not watch the news? Take a few dabs at World history over a cold one every now and then?

For instance, Christopher Columbus used Rustoleum on the Santa Maria to mark the colors of the throne on the ship's bow.

Premium mission, premium paint.

Remember the Apollo moon mission? That gold paint on the Lunar Lander? You guessed it, Rustoleum. That may have been heat resistant tho, which you won't need.

Look. You drive a Viper. Don't mess with cheap paints. Rustoleum is a premium paint amongst a pool of cheap paints. Just do it.

Dave, conflicting advice. I don't think Christopher Columbus or Alan Bean drank Lone Star.

Lone Star was served on the Nina and the Pinta. Ball Park franks too. Party boats basically.

The flagship Santa Maria served wine and weird vegetables on crisps. Never liked a crisp unless it had a chicken fried steak on it.

These things cost more to ship than they do to buy since they have to go freight. Best to buy a new one and have it delivered to your local dealer for pick up. Used ones usually don't look so hot as these things are really fragile and normally do not look so hot after being taken off and handled. A new one would also be a snap to paint. I bought on for my Gen II a year ago and I think it was only $140 or so. Huge box, but the actual hood pad only weighs a pound or two. Damn, there are a lot of clips holding on that sucker. 27 or so, if I remember correctly.

You can get the clips cheaper at O'reilys and dont try to save the old. just take your time painting. A good masking job and Rustoleum is the works great. Get some 1/8 blue masking tape to cut in edges. if you cant find it , find a Linoleum installer and ask him for a roll...he will have plenty. It rolls nice around the edges like pinstripe tape.
I orderd a spare about a year ago and it was one of the last 7 available. Mine is in the box safely stored away in case I ever need a replacement. :D

Ditto here... I ordered one into the local dealer a year or so as well and was told there was less than 10 left then. I think it was about $120 at my cost through the shop. It is a BIG box and I have it saved up in the loft...
