For posting another thread about rear wings...its just think the ACR aero package would look killer on my black SRT Viper, vert. I want to put the red side stripe on the car as well.....and that rear wing.

It seems people either love or hate that rear wing, especially on convertibles. SO, since I have never seen a rear wing on a vert SRT I would like all of you guys opinions on the ACR aero package for a black SRT vert...with and without the rear wing.

You're not the only one! :) I happen to really like wings on cars, and drew a ton of flak for being one of the first to put them on a Honda S2000. I think the new ACR is the best looking Viper yet, one day I'd like to get my '04 black mamba painted like the gray (fenders, doors) and black (hood, trunk) ACR show car.

If you do get the wing, be sure to post up some pics of how it looks.

It can be done!:2tu: The trouble is going to be getting those parts while 08's are being assembled!:( Unless someone reading this from the Viper plant can pull me an "Arero" package?:D I'll install it on Black Mamba's Viper.

I go back and forth about wings. Some look great, like the 08 ACR, while some look like you're just trying to yell, "look at me, boy-racer!". Wings on non-performance cars look just plain stupid.

But for your car, there is only one measure that should matter. You like it? Do it.

Buy another deck lid from JonB so that you can return it to stock if you'd like. I think the ACR stripe would look awesome on a vert.

Explaining Viper things to you

I thought we had decided back in 1992 with Vin #00000000000001 that the Viper is a performance car.

Therefore making all Vipers performance cars.

Therefore meaning that all Vipers are eligible for a wing by that definition.

And I like it, and someday will do it on my GTS.

I think wings look great on coupes, but a little funny on verts. I think it will look even worse and out of place when the top is down.

Its just something about the coupe with the solid top and different rear panels that make it look great with a wing. I love the GTS with stripes and wing, the new coupe looks awesome with the Prefix wing. So my vote is No on a vert.

One thing that concerns me is that on the coupe the red stripe continues over the roof of the car, not so on the Vert. I am wondering how much that "breaks up" the stripe theme.

I have decided to go for the full Aero package. I was worried about the air-braking effect made by the wing, but since it looks like I will end up w/ a 850-1000 rwhp car after selecting a forced induction system, I am sure I can overcome that drag!:headbang:
I will put the wing on, if I hate it, I will sell it to someone in this forum for a good price...I think it would be worth the gamble!

Now, I think my stock wheels would look like sh*t w/ the ACR package, but I do not like black wheels on black cars that come w/ the ACR...I really LOVE those wheels Nader has on his black SRT. But since the ACR wheels are much lighter, I might be swayed...

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I agree Vipers qualify for wings, but not all wings look good on a Viper.

As to my ref to not liking wings on non-performance cars, I was talking about Civics and that ilk. If you want an inexpensive, reliable, econo car for a miserable commute, it's a great car and I used to have one just for that purpose. But when I see some kid driving a Civic with a wing that is bigger than the car, I laugh my butt off.

It never ceases to amaze me how may people accept the poor behavior of others on this forum and lend them such respect, when in fact they do not deserve it.

Good point. But since I am married, I have grown accustomed to getting a second opinion :nono: (actually permission!:crazy2: ) before I make a move on something of importance. Since I do in fact respect the opinions of many of the guys in here and even have business relationships w/ many guys in here....I just thought it would valuable to see things from their perspective as well.

Read again. Calling someone a person who posts a "poser" or a "poser thread" is not a beneficial thing. I stand by my words. Disrespectful. Continued garbage on this website and harmful to the Viper community. If I am the only one with balls enough to point it out, so be it.

Opinions do not have to be disrespectful.

OMG, could your skin be any thinner?

BlackMamba even started the thread with a fun title "Ok don't shoot me".

If you think this board is disrespectful, garbage filled and harmful to the Viper community then it must be the only site on the entire internet you ever visit.

Loosen up and have a little fun once in a while.

I have to agree with sween that said a convertible does not look good with a wing. It almost makes it look like its trying to be a supra or something, not good. Again it comes down to what you want and that is what matters, I say leave it the way it is, everyone knows it is fast and you dont need a wing to prove that like others think a wing makes their car look fast. I agree that on a Coupe and GTS it does work, just not on a vert IMHO. Spend the money on other mods that will make your car actually go faster, trust me man it looks bad ass without it, or I would use that money on the 2008 hood instead.

Does anyone notice how light the Viper feels in the rear once you get past 140 mph? The rear wing would eliminate that. I have never taken my car past 155 mph...has anyone in here taken their SRT convertibles past say 160 mph? If so, how did she feel?

Yes. And a wing and front splitter will help the feel at those speeds. And personally...I like a wing on a Vert. Have one on mine.
