Every time I wax my car I find more and more paint defects. Little spots here and there where a rock hit. Anyone know a ball park price of what it would cost to have a car completely repainted?

Not sure yet if I wanna keep the color or what. It is a 2006 first edition.

Great paint with a solid warranty will probably run you $3500 to $4500 for solid color.

To get the whole car painted right your in the 6k and above range. Panels are removed and painted seperately then replaced on the car.

This seems very low... if it's true I will have mine done next year lol. However, I've been quoted anywhere between $1700-$2400 just to get both side sills and front bumper repainted along with the stripes on front bumper. From what I've been told, having the whole car repainted could be anywhere from $8,000-$15,000, having the stripes redone on a car can increase the cost as well. I hope I'm wrong, but from several sources I was told upwards to around $10,000, whether it's a little less or a little more. :(

For a quality paint job with quality materials (none of this Sherman Williams stuff or PPG or Dupont shop lines) you are looking at north of $10k to have it done right.

Just had a buddy's roadster done by Sewell in Plano, TX. Did and excellent job, sprayed the same color, and did not disassemble the car. Cost was $4200. Sewell's body shop that we used is the one that GM uses to fix any paint issues it has with cars before they go to dealers in the area. Very high tech and quality controlled shop. Paint shop looks like a something from NASA...and I would know, because I used to consult on jobs at NASA down in Houston. If I were going to do it myself, I would remove the side sills and front and rear fascias myself.

Great price in Plano , but doubt very many Viper owners would want their car painted without being unassembled , since that is how it is done at the factory.

I would recommend just living with it, as most Vipers have small paint chips. If alot are on the front a suggestion may be to get it clear bra'd .

another thing is the quarters are a MUST to remove, they are riveted on with large black rivets and if you spray over them it will scream cheap paint job

I got quoted $2500 to paint a 2008 hood and stripe the car by the best shop in the area here. They do a TON of custom work and high end restorations, so I trust their work.
The price isn't bad considering he wants to rapint the front bumper, turnk and rear bumper when he paints the hood as well. He would mask off where the stripes will be, paint everything silver, then mask off the silver and paint the stripes. That way, when he clears over it, it's all one level and smoth with no ridges.
I know the debate has gone on and on here about blending, but his price did include blending everything to make sure it all looks good. When I get it done, I'll pull the side sills also and have him those as well.

I'm definitely having my whole front bumper(plus stripes), both side sills and rear quarter panel(drivers side) painted next year. I'm hoping I can do it for $3,000 or less if that's possible.

You haven't said where the chips are happening. I assume they are in spots a clear bra will prevent. Is a clear bra an alternative?

The front bumper is in pretty rough shape. On the passenger side there is a small chip aft of the door a tad, then on the exhaust cover a 1 inch scratch. Under the front bumper is a disaster site, under both exhaust covers also. On the passenger side exhaust cover underneath there is like a 2 foot long scratch. Also on the passenger door it looks like the previous owner may of had a passenger open their door into another car, there are some signs of it rubbing against something.

Plus the passenger side 'Viper SRT 10' emblem, the S is broke, but the previous owner hit it by breaking the other side of the S, so it is still an S, but instead of with long lines it is a shorter S. Most people don't notice it, most people don't notice half the stuff I notice, but it is driving me nuts.

The top of the door, the window sill plastic piece, is also broken on both doors.

I think my main issue is a lot of little things adding up.

Why would you not keep the 1st Edition colors?. Paint it a different color and it's just a 2006 coupe with blue interior accents.:dunno:
