I see these posts about placing orders, yet the official MSRP is still unknown...
Dodge web pages say "pricing available soon"
My Viper dealer (who is one of the ones with the nations largest allocaton) has not contacted me with pricing, although I've repeatedly told him I'm intersted in upgrading...

Have I missed something??? Are people placing their orders at "any price Dodge dictates" ?

Maybe that's the new strategy. 30 pre sold cars at $100,000,000.00 each will probably cover the development costs  :dunno:  :D

Rumor has abounded from various sources that the pricing will be similar to the 2006, with only a marginal increase expected. Less than what you would spend to add 90 HP to your current car. :D

And 30 pre-sold? Not even close - try over 10X that amount in the first three days alone... :2tu:

Maybe kind of misleading. Many of the first orders are undoubtedly from us loyal diehards who've been posting (on this site) about the '08s for months now. Like everything else, it will slow down -- big time. Give it a few months ... and by next Spring, the cars will be sitting in showrooms again. Don't get me wrong, I'm thinking about the upgrade, but Dodge really didn't change the car enough to draw in many more 'new' buyers -- that's just the fact -- the average potential buyer already thought 510 HP was a HUGE number ...

I can't decide whether to order soon, or wait for VOI-10 in (Summer?) of 2008 and hope for a Dodge discount for attendees ;)

Chris, you aren't a good liar, your smiley face is a giveaway. Many in the know have told me the car is about 630 hp, so I'm not buying your 90hp more stuff, it's 125. I know you have to keep the secrets. Bill P expects it around or slightly above '06 prices.

dodge won't make an overprice mistake and risk these babies sitting around. they are smarter than that they will create frenzie and get everyone talking about 600 or more h.p. for under 100k . corvette did a good job at this by underpricing there z-06 ( by the way they raised the price $ 4k in 08 with no improvements except a larger glove-box). I've been in the business for years and the prices always go up. usually there is a price increase mid year. there are way too many viper owners who are due for a 2nd or a 3rd car. if they only build 3,000 of these boys and you have 1 you will regret not buying now. it is simple supply and demand with only 1500 cars for 08 (that is 30 cars for each state)

yes i am one of the viper nuts this 08 coupe will sit ( i mean sit ) next to my 06 convert. if I'm lucky I'll get 3,000 miles on them combined annual.

heck its only money! nothing else even comes close to putting a smile on my face like these car do!

peace out:2tu:

Vipermann, I have to believe that the ONLY units sitting in showrooms more than a day or two will be those that are in dealerships that have that infamous "Market Adjustment" sticker to the right of the REAL Window sticker!

The dealers don't have the official pricing yet, as it hasn't been determined at corporate either. That said, everything points to the increase (if any) to be minimal. And I suspect that is what the dealers have also heard and are passing along to their customers.

As for waiting, make sure you know what color you want and plan accordingly. They could cut off orders for certain colors when they hit their "limit". Overall production for 2008 will be limited, but DCX wants to make sure all colors get run. I wouldn't be surprised if the color timetable (for ordering anyway) got moved up due to brisk sales - regardless of price.

As I recall the entire 2003 production was sold out in less than a month - and the vast majority of orders (and virtually all of the certificates) were put in before the pricing was confirmed. And 2003 sales were limited to a select group of Viper owners, unlike the 2008 which is open to the general public as well...

And sun diego, yes, I am ignoring you for all the reasons you stated. :D  :rolaugh:

What Chris said is very accurate and there is no pricing , but then there was no pricing many years when we ordered. Most of us feel the price increase will be reasonable, but cars that are loaded will be higher as there are so many more options. There is the likelyhood that some colors may run out quickly , so that could up the timetable for other colors to be built.

Sincerely,
Bill Pemberton

Big difference I can see for 08 pricing is the availability of options that were not available in previous years.

Suspect the standard car will be priced similar to last year, but there will be interior, wheel, paint etc. options.

I also suspect that when the embargo is lifted, and all the automobile magazines publish their articles and performance improvements of the new car, that most of them will never see a showroom.

Gota figure that, with all the color options available, that pre-ordering would be the way to go if you want the limited run colors.

I am very interested to see where the pricing is as well but I would think it would be close to the 2006s as well. Can not wait to see these in person.

The actual price will be dependent upon the orders received. If they keep getting orders, they can raise the price. Simple to me ....

Not to be a nay sayer, but ... the 2003 was a completely different car. The '08 is an upgraded drivetrain, with a new hood and some new colors ... :eater:
