painting gas cap question.

does anyone know if the coupe gas cap is polished metal or actual chrome plated?

i wanted to paint mine gloss black

I'm not sure what it is. Took mine to a powder coater and they stripped it before powder. Turned out better than painting IMO.

I think it's some kind of polished Viper alloy.
-(have you seen the price on those?)

Definitely not chrome plated. That is something they do on Ford and Chevy cars.
.....I think KIA is using chrome plating now also,.....on their 'higher end' stuff.

I was also going to suggest powder-coating. This is an item that will see enough use and wear that paint may not hold up like you would expect. Powder coating is much more durable.

you have a pic from the side? I was thinking of blacking mine on my VOI to as the chrome look with the black rims just doesn't look right to me.

I painted my cap 2 years ago and it looks perfect no problems at all.

Perfect. I will be powder coating mine.

If it's just polished aluminum I can just scuff and paint over.
