Irritating how they go to the LMP for interview but not the Viper. The tape is clear that the Viper was FAR right and holding line and the LMP car quick turned into the Viper. Then the LMP team mouths off about non-pro drivers being so dangerous and that it was all the Viper fault. At least the announcers called it straight.

Mike,

I agree with both of you...The problem I have is why didn't the announcers have the "fortitude/ba***" to tell Magnussun he caused the accident? If Joe had been a few more feet to the right he would have been in the pit exit lane and could have been T-boned by another LMP car!!!!

Here is my chance what is an LMP car anyway? If they would focus more on the GTS and GT cars their ratings would go up tremendously! Who drives an LMP car? I have about as much interest in an LMP car as I do the Space Shuttle. I get bored watching the LMP cars....

Pull the Vipers through!!!!

Exsqueez me Mr. "Yawn" Magnusson, but I was at Road Atlanta when you went off track twice ( second time destroying the car )& fortunately you have one the nicest gentleman in Motorsports as your boss ( Dr. Don Panoz ). Any other employer would have said bye-bye on that day, as there were NO OTHER CARS ON THE TRACK EXCEPT YOU. Mr. " Non Professional " Joe Ellis had just come from the Sebring Speedfest, where he won the Nasa race, and was clawing for the lead in the two Viper League Races when he had mechanical failures. Seems that a professional license in ALMS, Grand American, Viper Racing League, & SCCA doesn't make Mr. Ellis enough of a Pro for you, but I thought I ought to remind you of Joe's nickname ---- " Evil Joe Ellis!" I am sure that the fact that Evil Joe is also an ex-Pro Boxer won't cause you to lose sleep, but the next time you hit Mr. Ellis, I would pray he doesn't HIT back. Sleep well tonight,Yawn.

If the LMP guys were such pro's as they think they are they would never crash, let alone pull some of the stupid mistakes of passing in such bad places when this is an endurance 12 hour race.....and I agree, ask Joe Ellis about his side of what happened.

I watched part of Road Atlanta this morning, and it was interesting to hear the annnouncers. Their general attitude towards Vipers was "oh yeah, we know they will dominate, so let's talk to everybody else". **** cameras only follow LMPs and those yellow things around the track.
So I took the kids and played mini-golf.

Just watched a LMP car, magnussson I beleive, crash into Ellis's Viper and then his tream mate blamed the Viper. CLEAR as day he turned into Ellis. Sad he got punted off, was running pretty good. Seems as usual the LMP guys think they own the track.

A Viper is not going to win an ALMS race until they get either Michelin tires, or a Factory Sponsored team. Maybe if the Corvettes and the Saleens and the Porsches crash, but that's about it. DC needs to quit with the LMP program that they aren't racing, and start paying for a Viper Factory Team, and not one to race in GT class either, since its main adversaries'll be killing it from the less-restricted and faster GTS class.

Actually, Michelin tires would have made the difference in this race. The AVR cars are now reliable and fast. Much credit goes to the team/owner. Their fastest lap times were only 1.411 seconds off the C5R's and 2.09 seconds off the Saleen's. The tires would have easily put the AVR on equal footing.

Got a call from AVR this afternoon, you are correct about the Michelins. AVR figures they lost about 10 laps due to the tire/door problems. That means they are right there with the the c5rs and Saleens. AVR also stated they were fastest in GTS in morning practice which was held in the rain.

Bad tire weekend for Dodge - both leading Ram Trucks which were dominating the NASCAR Truck event had flats within the last 10 laps. Both trucks were far ahead of the rest of the field.

At least Sterling Marlin kept the tires inflated Sunday.
