It is from Vipair Performance, these will be on our website early this upcoming week. We will sell these as an insert and as a complete hood.

www.vipairperformance.com

You will also be able to get them through Jon B at Partsrack and from Dan Cragin at DC performance.

I think it would look better if the vents were more flush with the hood.

Appearance aside, they FUNCTION BETTER with the raised vents, and also are an untested but highly likley aero-bonus in 2 ways: Eliminate lift and create downforce.

Jon,

You are correct, the function of these vents is to allow high pressure air out of the engine bay and thus give more downforce, this is how the latest Rev of the Comp Coupe hood is for world Challenge racing.

The appearance thing is a personal thing, that is why we have 2 styles of the hoods, one with old style Comp coupe louvers and the new aggressive nasty style, sort of like Zora's original Corvette Crand Sport hood look, which I must admit, I like.

great info on the raised hood, But I dont plan on doing any world challenge raceing any time soon!!!!lol so I will stick to the poser mod of the more flush hood.

Sorry, my turrets kicked in. I have NOTHING against viperair or gts-r 001, just gave my opinion.

Jon

I'll say it. I don't like it at all. The one that's flush is do-able but still fugly.

With either one, you just doubled the amount of time it takes to clean or wax the hood. The last thing I look for are ways to make it harder to keep the car clean. I'm looking for ways to make cleaning the car easier.

Zorro and JUCD,

I appreciate all the good words on the other products, and I also appreciate the constructive critisizm on this one. The red hood does not show this item in its best light, it looks far superior in person and especially with stripes.

Check out this link and see what it looks like with stripes, by the way we have a wing coming out next week that is very similar to the one in the picture as well

nowhere to now here TM
I thought this post was a joke when I saw the hood, then I kept reading and found out it was for real. The pictures look like they are photo-shopped (I can see the line in front of the hood where it is added-on). Crazy. I'm not a fan to say the least.

Guys,

There are other benefits.

I have the Autoform hood on my black SRT-10. It looks more like the "lesser" or the two hoods pictured above. It looks great in person and my engine runs about 20 degrees F cooler than with the stock hood.

Washing is not an issue nor does it take much longer. Just be careful not to drown your engine compartment.

Dan

hey X,

good to hear some on hands experienced feedback, is that your SRT 10 in the DC perfromance post in the general section?

Also here are some pics of the inside of the mold to show you how radial these vents are, these hoods will not be for everyone but, we have 3 orders already! including one from the infamous don't talk to me on a Monday guy, Jon B.

I have to say I love this hood. It has many benefits from more down force to better cooling. It looks a lot like the hood on my Ferrari that took a little getting used to but now I love it. Are you using the hood pad or getting rid of it? I never have seen a reason to leave it on the stock hood except for noise reduction. What is this going to cost? Does it come painted? What are the shipping charges?

Great job!!!!!!!!!!

it seems that it would be more symbolic if they kept the gills to 5, but i guess it exhausts more heat with more gills

Robbie,

we have decided to sell this hood in 6, yes SIX different ways

1) Fiber Glass insert to be cut into and inserted into your stock hood
2) Fiber Glass full hood with just like stock ( or real close anyways ) underside
3) Fiber Glass Pin on Light weight race version

4) Carbon Fiber insert to be cut into and inserted into your stock hood
5) Carbon Fiber full hood with just like stock ( or real close anyways ) underside
6) Carbon Fiber Pin on Light weight race version

Heck if getting rid of the heat is such a big concern, Just drive around with the hood off. You will get just as many looks with the hood off or on.
