Picking up my first Viper!!! Ship it or drive it?

Well said. Was the same way for weeks upon weeks. Did not want to touch the pedal at all out of fear.

picked mine up from woodhouse and drove it 1300 miles home in one shot - through rain, snow, mountains, you name it ! It was an awesome trip! The car was about as fithy as a "mini van with an ontario tag at disney world" but well worth the drive.
By the way ill second the radar detector, I got picked up 3 times on the way home. Be especially careful in rural areas where they dont see vipers very much.

I was actually at Disney the other day and saw that very mini van...signaled right and ended up turning left...maybe had the signal on the entire trip...Hummmm. One thing with driving a Viper, you notice EVERYTHING going on around you...not by choice, but necessity. Funniest thing I see when I'm out and about are folks driving out of their rear view/side mirrors and drifting left/right as they watch the Viper...jerking back to their lane like a drunk every so often. I don't think I've "caused" any accidents by the gawking, but I know I've rattled a few rubber-neckers when they figure out they need to pay attention to driving and not to the rolling car show behind them. Have fun on your return trip...and take a camera with to capture some of the more memorable events...for all of us to enjoy later.

Better late than never. Drive it. I did the same as another poster here, took an early AM flight from Portland to Salt Lake City, picked the car up from the dealer, and then did the 770 or so miles home that day. Beautiful sunny day and 75mph posted in northern Utah and Southern Idaho made for an easy cruise in 6th.
I stopped by the airport and got my car out of short term; by that time my wife had commandeered the car. She slowed down enough so I could jump out and was out of site before I even found the car. This latter part brought to you as a safety tip!

It's final now, me and my friend are flying out on the 22nd and i'm driving it back. We're bringing a vid cam and a camera. Hope the weather holds up!

Drive it and enjoy it. By the way I'm posting my 99 GTS for sale again. Rare black with both connolly interior and stripe option. Less than 20 optioned like this in 99. The car has 8,300 miles. Never been raced. Has T&D roller rockers with the chrome molly push rods,Mopar/Borla exhaust, Mopar performance computer,SVS cold air kit which includes billet aluminum throttle bodies with aluminum smooth tubes and bigger air box and K&Ns. The car is in mint shape and runs great. Need to expand my business and I have to say goodbye to my baby. Been looking at prices of earlier with higher mileage and think that $55,000 is a fare price for this Viper. There are other rare Vipers for a lot more money out there. But taking everything into consideration the buyer of this car is getting and excellent example of a pretty rare Viper. And in excellent conditions as well

Most most memorable viper drive was when my wife and I drove my first viper from New Hampshire to North Carolina after the purchase. The viper is very comfortable once you are seated - the only issue is the lack of cruise control, but you probably won't care about that either.
Don't shift in curves or do any high speed downshifts until you are well acquainted with the gear box. It's very easy to get 1 instead of 3 or 2 instead of 4.

Cool, thanks for the info. Looks like i might be driving from Florida instead of Minneapolis now. I found an accident on the carfax for the ACR. The pictures of the car don't look like it's been hit but i don't know??
