Anyone know if Dodge/Chrysler plans on changing the current body style? I just see new things happening at GM, with the releas of the Camaro, Firebird, and the 05 vette, but the Vipers body style since 2003 hasn't received any dramatic body changes.

Not to say that the current models are boring, but would be nice to see something really different for the next Generation of Vipers.

As far as beyond the '08's, we just don't know....we're just basically hoping they CONTINUE the Viper line with the *new* Chrysler management. ~juli

Nope, don't agree, you might be alone with that hope... The Viper would be better served to 'evolve' any design changes, much like a Porsche 911, rather than make dramatic changes. It's become an unmistakable icon -- don't mess with an icon.

Want an example?

I also own a '67 Mustang fastback GT ... it's beautiful. Ford had one of the best designs ever built, but by 1971, with just 4 years later of design 'improvements', they completely f'd it up. It wasn't until 2005, that Ford woke up and went back to the magic of those early Mustangs.

I love the Gen 3 design...the lines are nothing short of perfection. Beauty, performance and power. All in a car thats almost as rare as Lamborghini's. Any design change should be subtle and follow the same theme and keep the lineage alive.

I'd like subtle change but nothing to dramatic...I did this with a partner a few years ago.

Agreed, but what I meant was a dramatic change that still maintains the Viper we all know and are used to. I've never been a fan of the Camaro, Firebird, or the Vette, but just seeing some of the new stuff their doing is quite nice.

If they could find a way to do that with the Viper I think it own up on it's creativity and unique style and put the other manufacturers back down again to just a Camaro or Corvette.

I suspect the new management realizes that they need a halo car to promote the company. Given that, it seems the Viper should be moving more towards the lime light. As far as continuing the Viper - they have too much non-recurring engineering money spent on the 8.4 and other changes to the '08 to just walk away from it after this model year.

Hope you are right, MoparMan!~! The Viper is such a unique product for Chrysler/Dodge to build on...and promote, so here's hoping things look UP for Vipers! ~juli

Agreed I think you will most likely see an 09 model year(same as 08 with possibly some minor changes like colors avail.). The big question is will new management continue developement/design of a true Gen. IV car? Time will tell.

I use to like the honesty in their advertisements for cash back, no payments until whenever, deep discounts...but not on this one! :rolaugh:
