Just a related question - IS CARBON FIBER REALLY THAT EXPENSIVE TO PRODUCE? I mean, $1,500 for two little valve covers? Seems ridiculous to me - at that price. Experts, please chime in....
I wanted to get an opinion of what you guys thought..
Im waiting for a Polished Roe SC. With all my overzealousness, I have been trying to picture what the engine will look like with a polished whipple-like supercharger sitting where the intake manifold currently sits. I figure I will send out his new intake manifold and fuel rails to be polished as well when I receive them. I was wondering with all these polished components do you think the engine compartment would look good with polished/chrome plated valve covers? Has anyone done this? Open the hood and it will be one gleaming polished chunk of metal.....
JMO, but I think it would be overkill in a big way. I think the polished blower, rails, and intake would look great with the red valve covers, which would provide a nice contrast. What would be really trick, though, would be some carbon fiber valve covers to go with that setup. Wonder who would make us some?
It's because there are some people who don't care what something costs, and they will pony up $1500 for a product that costs $75 to make. And the other side is that the Viper market is not big enough to produce them in high volume to make a profit selling them at $150 (by selling 10X of them).
I think the carbon is not that expensive compared to the factory valve covers. Mine started looking faded with age.
Take a look at the price on the factory ones....... I forgot the exact price but they were high
