I just had my 2002 GTS with 14k miles dynoed this morning - 78F and low humidity. Mods are K&N, smooth tubes, Borla cat-back, and Sean Roe high flow.

SAE corrected numbers were 421 RWHP and 454 RWTQ.

I really haven't done much WOT runs in this car due to winter but I expected more than this with the mods. The numbers were climbing with each run so I wonder if I need to reset my computer or drive more aggressively??

I am thinking about changing out the plugs to see if that helps. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated it.

Thanks

those dont seem bad. I have simple bolt ons and yielded 425 rwhp and 465 rwtq. I have belanger headers which you dont list and I'm only at 1450 miles or so on the odometer. Again, all dynos are different and this run I've listed was on a Mustang with a 17% correction factor I think.

Again, not bad numbers.

I don't think your numbers look all that bad. A strong stock Gen II would be in the 410 range. I've seen some as low as 390. Our club has a Dyno Day coming up on 4/23 at Street Stuff in Addison. Here's the info if you want to participate.
Street Stuff Automotive- 633 S. Addison Road, Addison, IL. Doors open at 8:30 with the first car going on the dyno at 9:00 a.m. To reserve a spot please call Scott “TOOFAST” Sutker ( W-847-657-8680)

Thanks guys for the reassuring words. For some reason, I remember seeing torque figures much higher than mine even with stock motor. Then again, it could have been on a non-dyno-jet dyno and/or non-creme puff years.

All is all, is it advisable to reset your computer after a few months?

Those numbers seem a bit hi if you ask people that know. Creampuffs typicaly pull south of 410rwhp with your mods, have seen it time and time again. And have yet to see one pull much more than that.

Remember just because there are people claiming to pull unbelievable numbers on the forums does not mean they actualy are. The only way to really know how your car stacks up is to compare to the same cars on the same dyno.

I have been to 1/2 a dozen viper dyno events, and every time the difference between two equaly moded vipers was no more than 10hp.

I dynoed my 98 with almost exactly the same mods and came up with 422/464. I had 55k miles on the car at the time, so that's probably why mine were a tad low (talking to several experts about the possibility that my rings are "tired"). Each of my 4 runs was higher than the previous by about 2 hp per run, so I wouldn't expect a huge jump if you dynoed again (the PCM can only do so much). And, like everyone else said, your numbers are far from disappointing. :2tu:

Post the graph, perhaps there is something (ignition, etc.) which we can tell is off, if anything.

Try a Roe VECII. We worked on a GA VCA Club members car this weekend and the VEC II helped out allot. I believe we saw a 450hp and 475 torque with the same mods after tuning with the Roe VEC II. Credit goes to Joseph Dell, our GA VCA Pres. and his great tuning!

Man, I wish I were down in GA. In fact, my car originated at Ringgold GA. Any good tuners in Chicago???? What do you guys think about rockers?

Y2K5SRT - SVS is slightly above my budget right now. Your strong dyno numbers at MC racing is what started this thread :)

Those numbers seem right on to me. You can always try a different dyno. Remember theres always a little variance from car to car.

As Tommy said, stop out at dyno day and compare your car with others on the same dyno with the same conditions.
Its a deal @ $60.and you get your A/F also. That'll tell you if the Roe's Vec will add hp.
Understand some guys with big numbers know a few tricks,
also I recommend the Paolo Costellano snot beating before the dyno.A few runs up to 6200 will wake up the computer.
PS.Make sure you do it on a closed track!LOL

I think that you are right in there with your dyno numbers. I added an Archer Racing Airbox, smooth tubes, S&B filters, Crower roller rockers, Roe high flow cats, Corsa cat back, and the VEC I and got 436RWHP/460RWHP N/A.

Some Vipers simply make more or less power than others, and there is also some variance between different dynos, but I think that your dyno numbers are right in the middle of most of the mildly modded Creampuff Vipers that I've seen.:D

My '96 GTS ran 452 and 512 with headers and cat back. On button 652 and 814. I think non cream puffs are close to those numbers. Your numbers look right.

As Rich said previously, some Ga. Club guys did some tuning ( actually, Joseph Dell did the tuning), and my stock 97 with a VEC2 and 89k miles, pulled 425/475

vec2 gave me 20-25hp.

I agree my non creampuff gen 2 makes 504.85 RWHP and 577.3 RWTQ with the mods in my sig.

jet hot coated B&B Headers, alm flywheel, clutch and short throw shifter to come next month + some more dyno time to tune vec 2 so I'll see what she makes.

Numbers climb with successive runs as the engine oil, transmission fluid, and rear gear oil warm up. From 78F to 200-250F (typical operating temp ranges) may gain ~10hp. At some point, increased air temp may decrease hp on subsequent runs.

Since the dyno chart didn't show, what was the gain?

I have spent numerous hours and $$ on dyno time to tune the Vec 2
