Porsche Brake deflector: Which way is right?

The second way. After I installed mine it was clear after a short time that the deflectors had been mounted to the brackets upside down. :( I remounted them right after we figured this out....but I didn't update the pcture, now I don't have access to the Illustrated Instructions on this site. I do have updated instructions though...just not here.

Yeah...I remember that headache from installing mine. All finished and THEN realized they had been assembled backwards. Easy fix once you know which way is up. :)

Isn't the cutout supposed to clear the wheel when turning?
What would be the purpose of the cutout facing up and toward the center of the car?
If you check Dave's Big Brakes website, the picture of the Porsche deflectors shows the bolts on the same side of the cutout, like in the one of the Illustrated upgrades.
That is the way I installed mine, even though I needed custom brackets to make them fit properly.
