Guys, they BEAT Current Viper srt-10s Coupes and converts. And the COUPES are the same age. So w/e with this 5-10 year old BS. Chebys current street car is faster then our current one. Believe it, and stop doing the excuses game, thats a corvette membership attribute.

Yeah, again, I stand by what I said, no excuses, we lost for 06 and 07, but look to take the crown back in 08.

What will Dodge do when the 09 Z06 has 700 HP and a Cady CTS V has 600? I hope the current HP wars don't come to a screeching halt like they did in the early 70's.

I was referring to the particular vehicle HE was driving (this IS the Gen1-2 space isn't it?). So he shouldn't feel bad about losing in a 5-10 yr old car to a new one. Them's the breaks. Time knocks all kings off their hills. Besides, the SRT was never much of an overall performance improvement over the Gen2's. DC rested on their laurels until GM caught up.

lol. Funny how tides have turned. We now talk about what WE must do to beat a vette, and that it probably wasnt stock, or some other consoling words of wisdom. Fact is monie got it handed to him, by a faster car. Hats off to the driver and the car.

Our year is coming 2008 puts the viper back on top, or at least it better.

Jon

Jons bang on. I just got my butt handed to me. I knew before I raced him I would probally not win. Yes my car is 7 years older than his Z06 but he still whomped me. He was cool, we both waved at each other and went our seperate ways.

What caught me off guard was how danged madd I was. I really have not been beat before. I was genuinely pissed! It really made me want to mod my car, I don't like getting beat! :2tu:

BTW: what's Strykers number? :)

Maybe this is how you should have handled it?

*DELETED*

Just kidding? I just like the pic.

You must not get out much. There's a ton of cars out there that'll suprise you and they're not Vipers or Z06's either. Of course this is a Viper Forum so I would expect the loyalty but if you haven't been to your local track lately you might want to go. There's more street driven cars in the 10's and 11's than I've ever seen before. Point is some cars are expected to be fast. Some will surprise you.

Sure, but his car is no different then the 2002 ACR I had (when it was stock), ((Monnie drove mine after I did some mods, and it would take out a z0$hit easily)). And a 2002 is only 4 years older then a 2006 z0$hit. Age isnt as huge of a factor as commitment from the company to be the fastest. I know PLENTY of older STOCK lambos that would walk a stock viper, and an enzo is a few years old too, and it would smoke us too.

Fact is, vettes never beat vipers, stock for stock until the z0$hits came out. I am giving credit where credit is due, Vette z0$hits are fast, and with the right driver can take out a Viper regardless of year.

Thats it. I just hate excuses, when you lose, you lose, when you win, you win. I've lost my share at the drag strip, but won a lot more then I lost. I dont have excuses for the losses, I was bested.

May we win all our races, and the ones we don't have the humility to admit we were bested.

Jon

PS. Monnie, you know I know the equation for making your car dance, you drove my 11.50s NA ACR.. it woulda handled business dont you think?

I don't know if we are getting off topic here or ?.....I don't even think the title for this post is necessarly right

" Post of shame" ?

Who cares if you got beat.

Kudos to GM or whomever you want to give it to. Since some here might think the only battle is two sided - Dodge vs GM. That kind of thing happens - better car wins ! What I'm referring to is if you drive your Viper around thinking it's the fastest thing out there and you've really never raced it that much, So then you see what you would consider a real challenge (in this case a Z06) and want to race. Then I say don't be surprised by the outcome. I'll give you credit for admitting and posting it. Most owners of either (Viper or Z06) wouldn't !

Anyway don't be ashamed...

I think this post title should have been " Taste of reality"

Vette owners that can say they beat a Viper are far and few between. It's OK to throw them a bone every now and then.

Besides, the C6 Z06 Vettes 2006 technology. What year was the Viper?

I've driven Vipers since 2003 and I've yet to have a corvette driver look may way, let alone want to race.

I've driven them since 2002 :) and bought 3, all new :)

Monnie is a black and silver stripe, which points to 1999 if my Memory on years/Black Vipers serves me correctly.

I remember when I let monnie take mine out for a quick sprint with his son one night, as soon as he came back with it, he said "wow, I didnt expect it to snap so hard and spin the tires in second, that thing has a lot of power" (or something to the effect) and thats when I gave him my list of mods that really made that car come alive..

I also had someone email me asking the equation, here was my response:

What was done to your 02 ACR that got it in the 11's (11.50)? That is a pretty impressive number for a Gen II. :2tu:

I could clip off 11.50's all day long, consistent and solid as hell. Never really got heat soaked, even when it was super hot out. Worst it would do is 11.60's Mph was always 125

Not bad for bolt ons, and OEM street tires.

I could give you a more detailed/exhaustive list, but the short wins and well proven products are these:

1. B&B headers,
2. Random Tech METAL substrate cats (3 inch)
3. Random Tech Cat Back (3 inch) (set mufflers to loudest/ more flow)
4. T&D roller rockers
5. Mopar PCM or 2002 PCM (was pretty consisten with either, but mopar SHOULD give a slight lead).
6. Aluminum Flywheel.

Stock Gears, stock tranny, stock tires. Would get ACR rims, as they are lighter, less recipricole mass.

Set Shocks to (acrs are adjustable) to medium settings (have the exact numbers at home, etc).

I'd have to spend a little more time thinking about the mods on the car, but thats going to get you 90% of the way there.

The Z06 is a very fast car, with a few bolt ons many have ran 10's.The viper needs some help(heads, rockers, tune, and exhaust) but will run right with them and still have a better looking car.
