2012 Dodge Viper Won't Chase Volume, Will Go Custom

There are, of course, two possible outcomes for this course of action. One, we end up with a bunch of thick-margin, uninspiring sticker-and-wheel jobs that cheapen the line rather than improve it. Or two, we're gifted with a few cool special-edition models, cars that recall the ACR-X and its spirit. Knowing Gilles -- a stone-cold gearhead who's competed in Targa Newfoundland and can actually talk to the press without lapsing into brain-deadening market-speak -- I'd bet on the latter.

To paraphrase Monty Python, the Viper ain't dead yet. Hallelujah.

Good find.

Of course "volume" is relative.... Im sure they want way more volume than 2010...and maybe even more than 2003?
But still tiny numbers vs the 'competition'.

Vipers built from 1992-2010 INCLUSIVE = the average annual corvette build in the same era

I definitely like the idea of the custom paint/stripes/interior/wheels but that shouldn't slow down things too much. Yes, JonB, 2 to 3 thousand a year maybe even 5 thousand would be a great shot in the arm and it's still very low volume. That would help the MSRP from getting too outrageous. Now there's another relative number.

It is comforting to know that our cars are not simply marketed to eke out the most profit.
They still take pride and concentrate on the niche market, unlike most of the greedy American Corporations out to make the quickest buck..........
