So my 2nd gen has the premium sound option but in 98 the cd didnt have the blue tooth oreven aux cord input, and I'd like to up grade the alpine deck, however dodge made this difficult with a custome wire
Harness that wont work with a store bought alpine unit. It there a place that sells new model alpine players that will connect OR do I have to take out the whole system and re wire it to
Work with whats available at car audio shops.

Not sure about Gen 2 but I just Updated my Alpine in Gen4 and it was a 1 hour swap. They sell all the din adapters and cable splice adapters at Best Buy. The Gen4 needed an antenna adapter too. All the colors were standard plug and play, just different non standard plug ends.

Alpine has changed the plug they use. I was able to switch mine out and use the white plug. I did have to move a few wires around in the plug. You can use a paper clip or very small screwdriver to push the wires back out of plug. Color coded descriptions are on factory head unit.

It can be done, but you need an adapter cable. Sometimes adapter cables have been for sale on Ebay. I soldered mine by my self.

There's a whole lot of info on how to do it here. Just search for "DIN connector". It should bring up a bunch of threads on how to connect a newer head unit. BTW: the adaptor can be made by yourself quite easily, provided you have some experience in soldering fine wires :)
