Hey, that stuff looks good but will look even better on my ACR!! Those pushrods and ARP head bolts look sweet! :D Luckily the weather has SUCKED for the last month so I haven't missed any good driving days. :rolleyes:

I went by BBG today to pick up a few items and had a chance to look at your heads. Very nice!

Well, if they look anything like the pictures he sent then I'm happy. It's a pleasure to find someone who is even more of a perfectionist than myself.... especially when it involves this kind of work!:headbang: I wish I still lived in NorCal.....:rolleyes: so I could closer to his new shop.

Ok, I'm finally able to get back on the project this week! I have been very busy the last two weeks trying to get a trailer purchased to haul the ACR. :crazy2:

I got everything back from BBG in excellent shape and will be posting some pics later tonight.

In the mean time here is my (new to me) Gold Rush trailer. This is the second one I have owned and glad I could get the deal I wanted on it.

a little off topic but I like how you put all your sticker on a metal sheet and display them, I have been throwing mine out and now wish I didnt :(

Just go to a Home Depot or Lows and buy some square 2'x2' 1/2" thick MDF, then go to the "hardware" area where they keep different types of steel & aluminum sheeting. I was able to get very thin coated steel in the same 2'x2' size that matched up with the MDF boards. Then all you do is screw the MDF to the wall studs, attach the sheet of steel over the MDF and mount with some small #8 self-tapping screws at all four corners. Clean the steel off with some isopropyl alcohol and start sticking away!

Updated pics of parts sent back from BBG. Tomorrow I will be cleaning/inspecting all the parts like pushrods, head bolts, rocker arms, etc. and prepare to start the reassembly on Wed. morning. In the mean time here are the photos taken today.....

Well, today the ******** came back to life! :D I'll be posting some pics later tonight. I can honestly say the ACR-X BORLA 3" system w/o cats finally gives it the bark to back up the bite!! The difference in sound from stock is just amazing.......hell I'm almost tearing up over it again now. I still have some items to install so I have not had it on the road yet but when I do it's gonna be time to hide the women and children.....:omg: I have to give a big THANK YOU to Toddy @ BBG for the artwork he created out of my heads & intake, pictures don't do justice to the level of skill this guy has when it come to porting consistancy. :headbang:

Using my 6 H.P.Shop Vac with "custom" attachment to **** the head bolt holes dry after cleaning them all with solvent.

Heads on awaiting bolts. I spent over an hour cleaning and then applying ARP lube to each bolts treads and washer.

Wow! :crazy2: All I can say is WOW!!:omg: :D I finally got to drive the car today after my custom made Taylor 10.4mm 40 ohm spark plug wires arrived. :headbang: I made sure everything was done (3X over) and headed to my local Dodge dealer to have the MOPAR controller installed. After exactly 59 minutes they had my car all set to go with it's new brain. This is my 3rd Viper and I can honestly say this one turns more heads than the other two combined. The new sound combined with the ACR package really gets people's attention. Anyway, after leaving the dealership I went about "breaking it in" again. I can't say enough good things about the BORLA ACR-X 3" NO-CATS system......it's just perfect. No drone, sounds mean as hell at idle now and absolutly roars when your really on it. The coated ACR-X BBG headers are amazingly cool on the outer surface. I was able to do a plug check within 5 minutes of normal engine temps without burning my hands!! The poly trans mount was also a welcome improvement. Anyway, I plan on getting another 500-700 miles on the car over the next 7-10 days and then it's heading back to the dyno.

Now for the part most of you are interested in.......how does it run? It's hard to say by seat of the pants how much of an increase there is for sure but I had NEVER broke the tires loose @ 95 MPH before today and that was on a dry brushed concrete surface! :omg: To say it pulls hard above 3,000 RPM is the understatement of the year. :2tu: It's going to be very interesting to see just what kind of power and torque this thing is making now. I was so impressed with it today I am already changing my idea of going with 3:73's and instead with something more like 3:30's. I don't think i would ever be able to get any traction with that low of a gear now.

I can't say enough about how great of a job Toddy @ BBG did on the porting and other little tricks that we came up with to make such a great package! It's nice to work with someone who is as much of a perfectionist as myself. To be clear, this was the 1st Viper motor I had ever worked on but I did have plenty of other engine building experiance to feel completely comfortable doing everything myself in my own garage. I am really amazed at how simple and easy these cars are to work on. :D

Anyway here are some pics from today after my 1st test drive/shakedown runs. Feel free to ask any questions, this will be it till I get the thing on the Dyno.

was it difficult to slap on the acrx headers ,any tips ?how many hours does it take to change the in a garage ?

This thread is really tempting me to step up my car!

Congrats on the Gold Rush, you bought a first-class rig! We're on our second GR and they are the best trailers. If you ever have an issue, the owner is my brother's hunting buddy. Let me know and he'll get it resolved.

If i were you i would wait on the gears until its full broken in, because the stock gears should pull like a freight train
so no need to change them.
I now pretty much only run my car on 11 pounds of boost probably 700hp or less, and I have nitto NT05R drag radials 00 compound which is very soft
and I have very little traction with 307 gears and I have 20 inch rims.
I do have 2 sets of PS2s that I can use for winter driving.
Just hold off on gears and do half shafts and diff.

To be perfectly honest installing the headers wasn't near as bad as I was expexting. I did the drivers side 1st and it took me a couple of hours because I was trying to get to all of the bolts from the top. Working under the car made it a lot easier. It's not a hard project but you really have to be careful and take your time with the side sills when your making adjustments back to the tips. Other than that it's very straight forward.

It's funny because this is my second one also! My first GR was a 1988 37' goose neck that had been used by a Funny Car team previously. Most people outside of drag racing have never even heard of them but they do make the best trailer I have EVER seen. I'll make a note about your brother knowing them because I may want them to do some upgrades on it.

As for being tempted to start on your car........ I would say DO IT and you'll love it even more!! :D

Well, at this point I am DEFINETLY NOT going any lower than 3:54's for sure. :crazy2: As for the rearend I am still going to go with a OS Giken in a second (spare) housing but yeh, the gear ratio I had in mind just flew out the window........:drive: I can't even imagine what it must be like to drive a turbo or blown Viper on the street.........:hail:

Awesome build and incredible looking car. Glad it came together so well for you!!

Well, sell your Vette and go get one damn it! :D There are still plenty of new Gen IV cars out there........

Without a doubt this 2009 ACR is the best car I have EVER owned in so many ways it's crazy :crazy2:!!! If I could, I would give all the guys & gals responsible for getting these built a BIG KISS RIGHT ON THE LIPS!!:headbang:
