I remember doing 130mph in a 71 SD trans am. The car shook so much I thought it was going to fall apart. I can still remember shouting.... SHUT IT DOWN! SHUT IT DOWN!. Just after that scary run, at idle, the harmonic balancer lat go sending parts / pully's / belts everywhere. Hate what would have happened at speed......

When the power steering goes away it doesn't mean that you can't steer. Its just a whole lot harder.Probably a mnfgr supplier defect.A real pia on an exit ramp.Ability to steer with the power assist out could be related directly to how close to sh****g your pants you are.(Been there but not in the Viper yet)Maybe the next upgrade should be a gym membership and possibly a personal trainer? Old Rascal -
Just so happens I may have the parts you need

. Please have Mr. JonB contact us for the parts you are in need of. We have new and used pulleys in stock. May I say the year matters?

Doug Levin

I believe you had a rare defect. The pulley/pumps are NOT bullet proof. but at your low miles, only a defect can explain it, UNLESS...........

...thanks JonB!
(But, Old Rascal did quote "not raced, dragged or rally-crossed" ...Yeah, right!)

Old Rascal, sorry to hear of your Beloveds injury...if your Viper needs a nurse, just let me know!

I had a freak Starter solenoid problem with my precious one, I too was shocked, as Vipers are reliable and ('almost'!) bullet proof!

May your GTS soon be back to full fitness.
