It dawned on me today, that I DO NOT remember seeing ANY posts here about the Viper's fuel filter. What is the recommended replacement interval? Has anyone had one fail? Ever change one yourself? I have read through the 1997 manual...see NOTHING about this in the maintenance section. It does explain HOW to change one, but not WHEN (as far as I can tell). I MUST be missing something obvious here. any help you can offer appreciated. Thanks , in advance.

I changed mine at 14k miles. Have been wondering the same thing. It is pretty easy except the superior connection is abit difficult to disconnect. Plus the usual small spill of fluid. It is pretty easy to get to by just driving the rear wheels to over a ramp made of two 2x12s. The instructions are pretty good in the service manual. Was about 35$ from Dodge.

Fuel filters don't usually fail, they get plugged up (usually by dirt). Dirty fuel is not as big a problem in most arias anymore, but if your filter is dirty or pluged, rest assured it has done its job. If you find your engine starving for fuel or the performance declining, the fuel filter is a good place to start. I have yet to find a recommended change interval for my 97 GTS. I finally changed my fuel filter after 30K. The only difficulty was removing the plastic line that connects to the discharge side of the filter. Break this line, and your in trouble. The bugger was really on there. Almost 4 hours later, (and this was on a lift) the filter was changed out. Perhaps more frequent changing would help the tight line problem. I really haven't had any fuel delivery problems though. No doubt the car will go 10 MPH faster now. Weeee!
