I'm in the middle of flushing my radiator. As I went to open what I think is the draincock (a hex bolt on the driver's side of the bottom of the radiator) I noticed that it has a sealant of some sort around it. It's a dry foamy substance that flakes off easily if you touch it with your fingernail.

Is this the drainplug or should I leave it be? Whatever it is, it doesn't want to unscrew, and I'm afraid to force it too much.

Thanks!

Don't know for sure, but call you favorite helper(Tator, Levin, Macedo), they should be able to explain it for sure. I usually just take off the lower radiator hose to drain quickly, good luck.

BE CAREFUL, as one can twist this out of the radiator...some suggest a slight tightening first, then gently backing out this 1/4" Allen plug...I usually put a little teflon paste/teflon paste on the threads upon reinstall...some report anti-seize usage, but I'm worried about getting it on the "business end"of the plug...and, as I change coolant regularly, have been happy with the teflon approach.

That's what I'm doing too; removing the bottom radiator hose. Still would like to know about the draincock so I don't unscrew something that wasn't meant to be unscrewed

Got it done. Posted results in a different thread (Zerex Racing Super Coolant).
