Has anyone ever documented any change in MPH by going to a 3.55 or 3.73 gear from the stock 3.07? Since the car accelerates faster, should'nt the mph be faster? (Assuming the car can hook up that is), Paolo

Hey Dan, thanks for answering. But what I meant to ask is if putting in a 3.55 or a 3.73 will incerease the mph any in the 1/4 mile. What do you think? Paolo

I was running about 120 mph trap speeds in my '97 with the stock 3.07 gear, and when I switched to 3.55, my trap speeds went up to about 121 mph. I'm not sure the gear mattered too much in terms of trap speed; I think the difference between 121 and 123 mph was due to driving technique.

What the gear did buy me was about a tenth of ET on street tires and maybe two tenths on ET streets.
