It appears to be a 2002 Final Edition GTS...

DrDJ

correct. 156 of 360 apparently. just trying to figure out if it's a spoof ad - copied pics and details and the contact email doesn't include the owner's name . . .

Tell the person you have a friend in Tampa that could come look at the car for you. If it's for real get an address and find a Viper owner there through the local club to go check it out. If it's bogus, you'll get some lame excuse. Whatever you do...DON'T SEND ANY MONEY UNTIL YOU KNOW IT'S FOR REAL!!!

I almost lost $5,000.00 because I wasn't using my head. I just wanted a Viper so bad that common sense went right out the window. Once the money is sent, you'll never see it again and there not much anyone can do about it. People that try and scam others should die a slow and very painful death!

Be careful and don't get in a hurry. There are A LOT of Vipers for sale, so take your time and don't get bummed out if this isn't the one.

was just curious to find out more information from sources other than the apparent vendor . . . but i'm sure now it's a scam after reading the latest email...

2nd email from the 'vendor':

"Hello,
Thank you for contacting me about the Viper.
About the car:The car is in perfect conditions ,no flaws or dents, no scratches or any kind of damage,no engine problems. The interior is in like new condition and has never been smoked in. The car is still
US registered so you will not have to pay any custom taxes.
The problem is that I had to move with my family in ITALY where I got a new job transfer.I brought the car here with me with the intention of driving it but when I found out about the very high import duties and all the restrictions regarding registration and emissions tests here I've changed my mind and I've decided to sell the vehicle.I want to sell it in US because is still registered there.
The amount you will have to pay in order to own this vehicle is 17,000.00 $ with shipping costs included! I want to take this opportunity to assure you that this deal is 100% legitimate, the financial part of this deal will be managed by a third party,in this way both of us will be protected. They will keep the payment until you receive the item and test it.
So if you really want it please email me as soon as possible.
Thank
you."

1st email from the same address, sent moments before:

"Hello,
Thank you for contacting me about the 2004(53reg) ALFA ROMEO 147gta 3.2 V6 24v 250bhp with 19750 miles.
About the car:The car is in perfect conditions ,no flaws or dents, no scratches or any kind of damage,no engine problems. The interior is in like new condition and has never been smoked in. The car is still
US registered so you will not have to pay any custom taxes........"

is there a 03 / 53 reg system in america? sounds very english to me.

3rd email responding to some of my questions:

As I said in my first email the car is currently located in Italy..."

doesn't look like italy in the photos!... thought the import costs prohibited you from importing to italy?

"...and it will be shipped from here by air."

snakes above!...

"You will get the car to the nearest airport in your area and then it will be trucked forward to your place.Usually shipment takes maximum 5 days depending on your location.
HPI CLEAR : The car shows all clear on the hpi report as having no outstanding finance, has never been an insurance write off or stolen.
DOCUMENTS :The delivery agent will take care of all the papers.V5 LOGBOOK, 2x keys, service book & bookpack are provided.Everything will be sent along with the car.
Payment will be done by cash money transfer and will be supervised by AlertPay Solutions. The most important thing in all my activity is that I am affiliated at AlertPay and I have a purchase protection account for $10,000.This money is for refunding my customers in case they are not satisfied with my selling activity. The financial part of this deal will be manage by them. They are acting like a third party in this deal. They will keep the payment until you receive and test the car.You will send the money to a AlertPay agent. They will verify the payment and if is OK,if the money exist and are available they will notify me to proceed with the shipping. After you receive and see that the car is the one you want, you just notify AlertPay to give me the money. If you will not receive the car as i described to you, although this is not the case,AlertPay will refund you with 100% from the whole amount which you paid me.
Your total including delivery fees and insurance to your door is 17,000.00 $.You can send all the money to AlertPay before shipping or you can split the amount and send half of money before shipping and the rest after you'll receive the car.
Please take into consideration that I will get paid only after you receive the car.
If you agree with these terms and you have the money, send me your full name and the address where you want the car to be shipped and i will initiate the transaction trough Alertpay.
I have reserved the car for you and I will appreciate a fast answer.
Thank you,"

CROM - did wonder about the plate.... hoped an FE owner may spot, but if photoshopped guess such an owner won't exist...!

96GTS - you know how i feel! :) want the beast but $17k is stupid low (maybe right for the ARomeo!). good to know there maybe a club member out there who might cast an experienced eye over a future buy for me :) however, i'd plan to meet the vendor in person and pay them in person - a holiday to the USA / country would be the bonus!

so does anyone recognise if it's their viper in the photo (without the plate)?
is there a Jeffrey Davis owner?
