I wanted to jump in your forum and say thanks to all the Viper guys who made this a fun event. That Tony has one bad a$$ car and he can drive. And like Tony I made some new friends. Z06 and Viper guys are a lot alike, we have different tastes in cars but there is nothing wrong with that! Ryan and taken me around Road Atlanta in his Viper to give me pointers and ridden with me to do the same, that is what car guys do.
There was a little good natured smack talk on the way there, I know 'cause I did most of it. I seriously doubt anyone took offense - especially Ryan, who is the KING of smack talk
Yes, all the Z06 guys except Teddy were novices, and except for me all had at the most a cold air intake (I have headers as well). All the Z06's were on stock tires. I was better than Ryan on 2 of 3 runs and I was VERY happy with that because he knows how to drive a car! Some of us have been to Road Atlanta a few times as well, but there is very little the same between road racing and auto-X IMO.
So, no excuses from me, I didn't make any on the vette forum either. Bottom line is that the Viper guys kicked our collective butts and it was all Viper in positions 1-4 Vs. the Z06's. My hat is off to you, and am looking forward to doing this again. I race to learn my limits as well as the car. So far I have more limitations than my car but hope to close that gap.
I appreciate all car guys, but especially those that step away from the keyboard and take it to the track.
Take it easy guys!
Les
PS: One last comment - the better drivers won this event, and that is the best compliment I can make to them. The Viper is a GREAT car, so is the Z06 IMO, and it is better for how I use it. If winning at the Auto-X that day was about cars, a Honda Civic came in 2nd or 3rd place, and I doubt ANY of us believe the Civic is a better car
